Fantastic race and congrats to all but was that a slight dig by Michael O’Leary “I’d rather win a Gold Cup than a Ryanair” hmm.

I wondered that. Intriguing comment by Mullins too about Djakadam probably not going to win a Gold Cup now and having to start looking for another one. You’d think he wouldn’t have to look very far….

I’d have said that shortens the chances of a Ricci/Mullins break-up. Ruby must have known this morning that he’d traded out a day early for the sake of a Ryanair. He’s always been a ‘bird in the hand’ type, but he’s deprived the yard and the owner of a fine chance of landing their first Gold Cup

Having backed Don Cossack after Vautour’s defection, obviously very happy. But I do have to sympathise with Cue Card’s connections, what was Brennan thinking? Coming to the front having picked up the bridle, take your time! Nobody knows what he would have found up the hill, but picking up the bridle just before three out and hitting the front, you’d have to say he might have pulled right away from them. Bang
ing into Djakadam wouldn’t have helped his finish either, but very sad to see the race thrown away like that. Unlucky Cue Card. As for O Leary having a dig, fair play! Why if you have potentially the best racehorse around would you dodge the best race?
Why own and train the best horses if you’re too afraid or greedy to run in the biggest race. Who knows what would have happened if Vautour turned up. Great race nonetheless and well done Don Cossack.

Pleased that Don Cossack denied Djakadam anyway. It’s a shame O’Leary denied Noel Meade the chance of a gold cup run.

Agree with you reference the ride Brennan gave Cue Card and wonder with regards to Ricci/Mullins/Walsh what’s going to happen next year if Faugheen is fit again? Will Annie Power be moved to the Mares Hurdle???
