He had been backed in the few weeks up to the Craven, over the winter he was around 4th or 5th in the betting Behind Huntingdale, Sure Blade and a Obrien 2yo which never made it, Think it began with "Gold"

Its still like yesterday to me Himself!
William Hills went 20"s after the Soham, cut to 16"s for the winter, the dogs were barking during April as you say and he was cut to 12/1,he then went 10/1 on the day of the craven as the Ante-Post Prince went in again and straight after the Craven he went4/1
for the 2000gns and 12/1 for the Derby! On the day of the 2000gns you could get 5/2 but all that was taken and he returned 15/8fav.After he strode clear of Green desert he was cut to 6/1 for the Derby! The less said about that the better!

There’s a little bit of rain forecast at Newmarket on Thursday, but it’s likely to be a dry week apart from that. They may water to guarantee Dream Ahead’s participation, but there has to be a doubt that he’ll turn up.
I saw a photograph of Frankel earlier today; he’s so well muscled it’s untrue. On soft ground he’ll definitely struggle – it would be like a weight-lifter running on wet sand – but I don’t know that I’d want to take him on through fear of ruining my horse for next year.
If Newmarket can provide good-to-soft ground then I’d let Dream Ahead take his chance (he’ll probably win). If not, I’d have no hesitation in putting him away; let Saamidd find out how good he really is.

APK, Tate Gallery was quite heavily backed because of a rumour that Lester was going to come out of retirement to ride him, Ives ended up riding him
Lets just hope and pray that its good or on the easy side and they all turn up

I"ll meet up with you Mr W,knock you out for 20 seconds, bring you round, you will start jibbering for a few seconds, nothing new there though, knock you out again then when you come round we can have a beer and talk about looking forward to the greatest sporting occassion the world has known,Cheltenham!! you could do with a bit of sense knocking into you!
xxxOctober 9, 2010 at 23:01 #321608Honestly, I’m looking forward to this race more than anything else I’ve seen on the flat this year. It really does have, possibly, the greatest Dewhurst line up ever assembled. It’ll be a helluva spectacle.
Frankel is the one I’m going for. Absolutely oozes class and travels like a nuclear missile. Of course, Dream Ahead is the giant warrior with a sledgehammer finish to worry about but I feel that Frankel will spearhead (maybe three furlongs out) and show em what acceleration is all about.
Roll on next Saturday!
October 10, 2010 at 01:22 #321612They’ll be excuse’s whatever the result.
I think it’ll come up soft, so have to be on Dream Ahead at this stage. A repeat of his Morny effort on good ground wont be enough to repel Frankel.

How can you say he will struggle on soft when he won his maiden, hard held, on soft? And it was good to soft when he dotted up in the Royal Lodge?? I think he is a monster and hopefully will prove it for HRAC. At least we don’t have to worry about the boys in blue buying him up and ruining him for next year!
On the whole saturday’s card at HQ is shaping up to be a cracker……sadly the last one to contain the Champions Stakes.

Don’t really care what the going is like Frankel will still win. I had a good lift at the weeknd and slapped the whole lot on Frankel and think it will be along time before we see 4/6 about him again…..might get 4/6 for the Guineas after Sat but ven that must be doubtful.
Might drift a bit on Saturday of it’s soft because daft punters will think that’s enough to bring him and Dream Ahead together and will back him again if he does.
I don’t think the handicap to bring them together has been invented yet.
Pity Frankel couldn’t run in the Champion Stakes he’d win that as well
October 11, 2010 at 09:10 #321806I actually agree with you Fist. Personally I think he could have won the QEII when he ran at Ascot, and I mean every single character I have typed.
This is a proper horse. I have never seen him come off the bridle, bar his maiden when arfter 6 or 7 pushes he came straight back on the bit.
I think that Saamid is not an exceptional colt, but nevertheless a top class performer. I think that Dream Ahead is a soft ground lover and he beat a group of highly talented good to firm ground horses on soft ground last time out.
I think Frankel at 8/11 was possibly the best bet I have ever seen. I have filled up my boots, pockets, socks and puffer jacket with money on Frankel. This IS the next coming, this IS one of the greats, this IS Frankel-ly the best horse I think I have ever seen and ever will see.
I will probably come in for a lot of criticism for this post but in time it will be proven to be correct. I have never in my life seen a horse who bounds clear and you can tell he is absoloutley loving it. He seems to really enjoy being extended and I think its lovely to see a top quality horse pushed to the line, well done Tom Queally for that.
My prediction is an 8l plus rout of a good Dewhurst field. I am even making my first visit to Newmarket to see this freak in the flesh. I just pray to the gods, saints and martyrs that this horse turns up in the Dewhurst in good form and runs his race.
Going back in my cave until saturday, have a lovely week.

The tell me Henry Cecil has applied for a pilots licence and hopes to have it before the Dewhurst.
It’s not for him it’s for Frankel as he’s scared the BHA might find the jet engine he has tucked up his backside.

Only 8 lengths Mick?
I would think you’d actually get a very good price for him to win by over or under 5 lengths if you scout about.
