I think Denman will be beaten today.
I would guess I am the only one but I think Celestial Gold will win this race before going on to land the Gold Cup. Regal Heights could also beat him.
You can start calling me names now, but if you do I will call you names back after Denman has lost so ne na na na na.
February 9, 2008 at 01:16 #141448In fact I would like to change my opinion to Im almost certain Denman will be beaten. 1/6 fav is utterly ridiculous. Im going to win so much money from this horse Im already excited.
The bookmakers have it very very wrong and I will be punishing anybody who thinks they are buying money on this horse via Betfair.
February 9, 2008 at 01:18 #141449Its a bold statement zozo but I think denman is going to have to throw in a complete howler to lose that tomorrow. Should be denman domination all the way…
February 9, 2008 at 01:20 #141450What name would you like me to call you?
Brave call tomorrow, looks a jump around job to me. Backed Clestial Halo for a Gold Cup once in his prime, staggered if he retains the ability to figure in one now………………….February 9, 2008 at 01:36 #141451There is no way in the world this hyped up animal can give 10 l/b to Celestial Gold who is actually a better horse. You can bet your last penny that Pipe will have him tuned to perfection for this race. Denman is favourite purely on racing press hype.
Martin Pipes Shooting Light was Pulled Up the race before he won the Aon when he turned over odds on certainty Keen Leader. That horse also carried 11-0 and beat the odds on fav who carried 11-10.Denman is not as good as everyone thinks, he beat Beef or Salmon by 5 lengths off level weights last time and they make him a 1/6 shot. Someone is having a wind up, no way this horse is a 1/6 shot.
7 is a significant number in cycles and Denman has won his last 7 races. He wont be making it 8 in a row, I simply cant have him.
This race has never been won by 2 favs in a row.
Denman has never beaten a good horse in his life (not one that warrants him being 1/6)
All the omens are in place, the hype horse will be defeated, no question about it in my mind.
This is my book:
Celestial Gold – 4/9
Denman – 5/2
Regal Heigts – 5/2
Ollie Magern – You can name your own price for this one.February 9, 2008 at 01:52 #141453Care to give me a few quid on Denman at 5/2?
If you think Celestial Gold is a) a better horse and b) up to winning this after a such dismal return over hurdles, you’re one step away from a visit from the nice men in white coats. And if you think Regal Heights is a) in the same league as Denman and b) worthy of going off at the same price then I’m guessing you’re already in the padded room, rocking in the corner with your arms tied behind your back.
I love that you’re trying to use Keen Leader as some sort of justification for opposing Denman. Keen Leader had plenty of ability, that can’t be doubted, but he was just as likely to slam through a fence as clear it and became a serial underachiever following his Aon defeat. Shooting Light wasn’t exactly a no-hoper anyway, having achieved a rating of 160 before being pulled up in the Gold Cup and failing to stay over 3m 4f at Cheltenham after 8 months off. The race he was pulled up in before his Aon victory was the King George, where he travelled like a dog and jumped like a walrus. That hardly compares to Celestial Gold…
February 9, 2008 at 02:13 #141454I’ll have 5 grand Denman @ 5/2 pls… scarebus70@yahoo.com
February 9, 2008 at 03:24 #141456Denman is favourite purely on racing press hype
Surely fav because he’s rated 2nd best Chaser around, unbeaten over bigger obstacles and may also be better than he’s shown so far
FWIW and If Celestial Gold still retains his ability
Denman 1.66
Celestial Gold 3.25
Ollie Magern 13
Regal Heights 65February 9, 2008 at 06:20 #141458Give me 5/2 Denman on Betfair Zoso, please.
He’s 1/6 favourite on the back of two 170 plus performances. I don’t think 1/6 is a true price more a 1/2 – 2/5 chance for me.
He’s gonna have to fall not to win this.
February 9, 2008 at 07:05 #141459zoso,
£9K @ 4/9 celestial please.
February 9, 2008 at 07:32 #141461Zozo you are either totally nuts or taking the piss

I think one look at CE’s form tell you this horse hates anythging resembling soft ground.
David Pipe will give strict instrctions to his Jockey….go anywhere near Denman, breath on him I’ll kill you
Sit out the back door and pick off the other two late on in the race to pick up the 3nd place prize manyWouldn’t be doing the horse any favours getting within 3 lengths of Denman……..be 2 separate races today IMO….which is probaly worth about 10p but it’s what I would do.
February 9, 2008 at 08:32 #141466Zoso i have re-mortgaged, i will take all the 5/2 u got about denman.
February 9, 2008 at 08:52 #141469First things first chaps, asking for a price on the a forum is one of the stupidest things that happens in racing forums.
Why on earth would I lay anyone Denman at 5/2 when I can lay him at 1/5 on Betfair. The price is purely what I think he should be. Also if I put up a 10k lay of Denman at 5/2 and pressed submit on Betfair all that would happen is the current price would get matched ie 1.21 so I think some of you are being silly.

I on the otherhand have spotted a massively overhyped horse that is trading at ridiculous odds and will be taking full advantage. Denman may win, I cant call it a fact that he wont but boy oh boy wont I be laying him at that silly price. Should not be favourite, plain and simple.
Opportunities like this come along once a week.
Last week it was The New England Patriots this week its Denman, different game but the outcomes the same.
February 9, 2008 at 08:57 #141475There was virtually no evidence that Celestial Gold retained his ability last time, Zoso.
I agree 1/6 looks wrong though – Denman should be shorter.
February 9, 2008 at 09:03 #141477Utter claptrap. It’s an easier race for Denman than the Hennesey.
February 9, 2008 at 09:05 #141478I’m going to NAP Ollie Magern.
Can i have 1000/1 please.February 9, 2008 at 09:05 #141479Celstial Gold was running over hurdles last time before being pulled up. This is the Pipe stable we are talking about what has ability on its last run got to do with anything?
Fist- I hardly think Timmy Murphy is going to be told to hold Celestial Gold back and run on for 3rd. This is a Group 2 race not a handicap.

Denman = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASjH7X-jAY4
I may even go to the betting shop to watch the punters faces as there ‘certainty’ accumulator goes down with Denman.
