What about backing him ante-post now for the 2009 Gold Cup, doesn’t that count?

He’s available all over at odds against, with Paddy Power’s 7/4 being the best.

Yep, see where you’re coming from now.

I honestly can’t see him going off at the start of any race next year at odds against, that’s just my opinion though.

I’ve never been the biggest fan of backing ante-post as there’s always risks involved, but am severely tempted to start backing already for Cheltenham next year. Denman at around 6/4-7/4 and Master Minded around 5/4 could be a nice weekly investment doubled up.

Don’t know how long those odds will last but at around 9/2-5/1 for the double, I’m really tempted to get a few ante-post slips stacking up over the coming weeks/months.

Interesting point Zamorston and I find their anti-post prices really interesting but really i’m on about what his sp will be on the day, so yes if he makes it in one piece to the gold cup then the 7/4 would be fair price. There should be several more races in between now and then though and even if he takes on Kauto between now and then he’ll be odds-on in my opinion.

there is noway that horse can be odds on next year after the way kauto star managesd to hit every fence and still only loose by such a short distance, and btw if he hadn’t hit the last, it would have been ALOT closer, even though he hit everything b4 that. Everyone is being media boys about denman, Kauto will be a sleping giant ^^ we have seen the best denman can offer(he was DIEING at the end) , after the way ks starting to come back, we still havn’t seen his best, how exciting

You could also argue that being in a battle for 2nd place helped get a bit more out of Kauto Star, while Denman was all alone and idling a bit in front.

How does anyone know that if Kauto would have jumped soundly and come upsides Denman up the run-in, that Denman wouldn’t have found extra and fought him off?

Denman wasn’t idlng at all after the last fence, he was definately getting ridden, i do hope he goes odds on though, i’ll get more money when kauto wins lol ^^

I wouldn’t be too confident Denman will get past his first race unbeaten if he runs in the Hennessy. Even Arkle got beat in it.

I don’t know what the pans are but if he runs and Jonjo decided to go after the Tank with an in form Exotic Dancer who nows what would happen if he is getting plenty weight. No sense in him chasing Kato round the place he knows he can’t beat him.

Newbury is not Cheltenham and stamina is not so in demand….if anything beats Denman it will be a speed horse………..be interesting if it happens……could work against Denman and it could make him look even better who knows.

Something I want to see is him take on either ED or Kauto in the top of their form before I shout champion of the world.

If Denman ran in the Grand National ( God forbid), he’d be odds against. He’d also be odds against if he ran again in the Hennessy.

    Agree with post above.

If Denman went to Newbury without a run and had to concede a lot of weight to Exotic Dancer, Halcon…, Alberta’s Run perhaps, then I believe he’d start odds against.

I’d put that down to having a hard season and carrying top weight in the race like the hennessy. I don’t think any horse could do with being freshened up and given a good break as much as Denman. I’d say the same about Kauto if only I could be 100% sure he’d come back the same horse, his old nemesis Exotic Dancer hasn’t.

I think it’s safe to say young Kauto Star has got enough character to bounce back. He’s had one off day in 2 seasons and you think he may never be the same horse again? Hardly Marb horse he is far from gone and will probably improve next season as he should be approaching his prime.

I have no idea where you get your ideas from but to say Exotic Dancer never benfitted from a break like he was having a nice holiday or something beats the hell out of me.

He was injured it was always going to be tight if the could get him back on song in time and they obviously coudn’t.

ED is a very touch horse and is sure to come back and win more than a few good races. Love to see Neptune Collenges trying to give ED weight.

I would be more worried about NC and would be surprised if he wins another race in the next 12 months against decent horses…………..2lbs below Kauto Star pretty rules him out of handicapa and he won’t be winning any grade1 races.
