Abu Dhabi Championship
Brooks Keopka 12/1 (20/1 1st round leader market)
A class act, with a Major (PGA) under his belt. Won the CJ Cup @ Nine bridges last October
with a blistering final round 64, and after a good break since October he came back with
a nice pipe opener in the Sentry Championship to finish 24th. That should have blown away
the cobwebs and if he’s on song he will be hard to beat.Tyrell Hatton 22/1 (35/1 1st round leader market)
He didn’t manage to match his 2 wins of 2017 last year, but he came consistently close with
8 top 10s. Last seen out at the Handa Melbourne World Cup of Golf down under, he looked to
have his game in good order finishing T8. He finished T13 and T15 here over the past couple
of years, so he knows his way around the course well enough.Shubhankar Sharma 150/1 (100/1 1st round leader market)
Sharma started off like a whirlwind last year, taking the Joburg Open and Maybank Challenge.
He looked like he had burst onto the scene and would be competing with the big boys. As it
happened, he didn’t quite live up to that promise although he did well in his 1st venture into
the PGA Tour with a very decent T9 in the World Golf Championships in Mexico. He mixed it between
the European Tour and The Pga Tour, and I’m not sure that he hadn’t set his sights a bit high too
early. His last appearance, in the Hong Kong Open last November was the first time I thought he
looked to be getting his A game back in order, and T6 was a marked improvement having been the
1st top 10 he managed since his round at the WGC in Mexico back in April. It could just have been
a blip at in HK, but I think he is a very good golfer and at 22 years he may just have found his
way back with another year under his belt. I think 150/1 is well worth a punt. Thanks for the heads up about the early start in Abu Dhabi Darren I’ll get my bets in for
the Desert Classic in a bit.January 15, 2019 at 19:32 #1392609A late addition to my 3 in the Abu Dhabi Championship
Eddie Pepperell 80/1 (66/1 1st round leader market)
I’ve got a soft spot for Eddie, and he’s done me a favour in that past. I decided
to leave him out of my 3 picks, but I’ve got this nagging feeling that wont go away
that he might just do well here. He’s not the most consistent, his 2 wins last year
were followed by missed cuts. He comes here fresh and I’d kick myself if he gets off
to a good start, so I’ve smashed my piggy bank and added him to my hopefulsJanuary 17, 2019 at 16:13 #1392741BigG any bets at desert classic be off in 30mins time my top player bets below
DANNY WILLETT 4/1 TOP GB Player
JOAQUIM NIEMANN 14/1 Top rest of world
CAMERON DAVIS 3/1 Top aussie
January 17, 2019 at 16:27 #1392745I typed this all out about 2am this morning, and when I clicked submit I suddenly found
that I’d been logged out and my post disappeared So here’s a shortened version
as I can’t be bothered doing it all again.Desert Classic
Adam Hadwin 30/1 (14/1 1st round leader market at Stadium Course)
This is his course, consecutive finishes of T6, 2nd and T3 give him every chance.
I recall he also hit an incredible 59 on the La Quinta course in 2017.Harold Varner III 80/1 (40/1 1st round leader market at La Quinta)
Has upped his game in the last year, and 2 top 10s and 4 tops 20s in the last 6
tournaments points towards him not being far away from his 1st PGA Tour win.Ok I’ll put my hands up to an early morning, with my eyelids drooping, blunder. I meant
to stick my 1st round bet on Hadwin, and with my brain failing I stuck it on Harman
I realised this morning and got my bet on Hadwin but having done Harman in the 1st round
leader market I’d feel a plonker if he won this outright, so I had to stick him on as
well…….Brian Harman 60/1 (25/1 1st round leader market at Stadium Course)
You never know, maybe I could just fluke it
January 17, 2019 at 18:14 #1392753Good luck bigG but still not started yet golf in desert some fog I read why not started yet.Golfers should be in UK with cold weather we got now.
Any views on halfway stage of abu dhabi
And I had a bet on non tv event Singapore open bets below
M FITZPATRICK 7/1
J JANEWATTENEOD
P KHONGHAHI 55/1
A DODT 100/1January 17, 2019 at 19:27 #1392760We’ve both got one at 7 under Darren, Koepka and Pieters. That’s 5 back so they’ll need to
have good round tomorrow, but it is moving day and both can score low. Again we have one each
just one shot further back, Kaymer and Pepperell. Raymo has a couple just one shot back from
them with Van Rooyen and Grace. I think it’s going to need a pretty low round from all of our
guys to be in with a realistic chance on Sunday. We’re not without hope, but I think Lowry
and Oosthuizen are the most likely ones at this point.January 18, 2019 at 15:17 #1392826Well after my balls up with the Harman bet by mistake instead of Hadwin in the 1st round
market, which was 40 quid down the drain (10e/w 1st round and 10e/w outright), I’m pleased
to say that Adam Hadwin was the outright winner in the 1st round betting at Stadium Course,
so the 20 quid on the nose (too short for e/w at 14/1) has bailed me out nicely. I’m very
hopeful with Hadwin, even although big Phil has flown the coup with a staggering 12 under par
round of 60. Phil’s round was at La Quenta, which is the easiest of the 3 courses, and with
Hadwin still to play there, and bearing in mind Hadwin shot a 59 there back in 2017, then he
is still withing catching distance of Mickelson. That’s good news for you too Raymo as I see
you’ve also backed Hadwin, this really is a set up that suits him. Pity you didn’t have him
in the 1st round betting, but I think there’s still every chance for him in the outrightJanuary 18, 2019 at 16:32 #1392831BigG any views on final day at Abu dhabi lowry out in lead but we seen at this place before wjen 3 time course winner Martin Kaymer open up a 10 shot lead during final round only to toss it away. I can remember this as was on Kaymer at 16/1.Lets hope Lowry turns into devon loch tomorrow and Pieters does him on the nod.
January 18, 2019 at 18:10 #1392840We can wish Darren, but I’m finding it hard to see anything other than a Lowry win. My nearest
is Koepka at 9 under, but I’ve got him win only so I think he’s gone. Your man Pieters is one
shot better off at 10 under. If you’ve got him e/w at 25s I think you’ll get a return, but I can’t
see him taking this mateI’ve got Pepperell at 6 under, and if he has the round of his life he might sneak into the top 6
for a place, but I’m not holding my breath.I’m afraid to say it’s a case of……nothing to see here, move along, move along
January 18, 2019 at 22:27 #1392870You two got Koepka and Pieters with a chance of being placed in Abu Dhabi guys but like you say it is Lowery’s to lose by the looks of it.
At least I still have an interest in the Desert Classic with Hadwin and cantlay is not far away either.
Be Lucky Guys
January 19, 2019 at 11:11 #1392935Raymo you forget to add Cantlay in your bets you did he also my best hope in desert
Lowry looks like chucking it away while Pieters can’t birdie for Kit Kat
Though better in singapore open for me as Fitzpatrick and Jazzy J are 1 off lead with hole to go in 3rd round
January 20, 2019 at 11:52 #1393091P Cantlay best hope tonight in final day at Desert classic good luck guys with Hadwin do you both think he win it
Shane Lowry won Abu dhabi
And i am happy to as my 20/1 i had on Jazz Jannewattenoed won singapore open by 2shots from Casey
January 20, 2019 at 13:12 #1393097Cracking win with Jannewattenoed Darren, well done sir
I thought that Hadwin was going to start today just the one shot behind Mickelson, when
Mickelson, who was 21 under had 2 to go, and Hadwin was in the clubhouse with 20 under.
Mickelson had landed on the 17th par 3, and was some 36 feet from the hole. I expected
him to par the last 2, but what does he do?….he sinks it from 36 feet
I think Hadwin will do well in the final round, I think winning it will be down to
how Mickelson plays. If he carries on in the same vein as in the 1st 3 rounds, he’ll
probably win by 2 or 3, but this is Hadwin’s favourite event and he will give Phil a
run for his money. I think Raymo and I have a shout, and I’ve already got money in the
bank from Hadwin winning the 1st round outright at 14s…..I’d love to top that up tonightJanuary 20, 2019 at 14:27 #1393105WELL DONE IN SINGAPORE DARREN
Looks interesting tonight but it does depend how Phil plays and I think Cantlay and Rahm have a small chance if they shoot the lights out but I think both are probably underpriced because of who they are.
If I was going to have a bet today which obviously I am not cos of Hadwin I would back Long e/w at 22/1 which when you consider he is only one behind Hadwin is a pretty big price !!
COME ON HADWIN
January 20, 2019 at 22:08 #1393133Looking good for us at the moment Raymo, 11 played and 3 clear. I’ve got 15 quid e/w Hadwin
at 30s, and Mickelson has just gone highest odds of 8/1 with Sky, so I’ve stuck 50 quid on
him as insurance. It takes the pressure off as financially it doesn’t really matter to me
which one wins, but I’m still rooting for Hadwin, it would be a great result for us both mateJanuary 20, 2019 at 22:27 #1393135Your man Long is still hanging about Raymo, and although I don’t think he’ll win, at 25/1
and only 3 back with 6 to play I’ve stuck 20 quid on which puts him in the same category
as Hadwin and Michelson, they all pay about the same. It’s a nice cushionJanuary 20, 2019 at 23:05 #1393138Bloody hell !! this is getting a bit tight, 3 to play and Hadwin and Long
both on -25, with Phil 1 behind with 24. Thank **** I took the insurance or I’d be
crapping myslef right now. I really hope Hadwin keeps his nerve Raymo, I still think
he can do this -
