July 1, 2015 at 12:45 #1119560Big g any golf bets mate this week
Hi Darren, I didn’t post last week, I didn’t put a golf bet on until in running. I had a tenner e/w on James Morrison at 40/1 with Paddy Power during the first round of the BMW last week. Going into the last round, I could almost smell my £520 with him starting 2 shots clear of the field in the last round, and only a few in with realistic chances of getting near him. Holy crap!!! a bloody melt down score of 77, the joint worst score of the round. What really annoys me now, is that PP were offering £247 with their cash out system, if I had taken it before the round started. I got greedy and thought at worst he would end up placed and I’d get £110, but I really fancied him to win.
So having said all that, I’m going on the principle that lightning won’t strike twice and being a glutton for punishment I am giving him a second chance. I see he said on his twitter that it was a “learning curve”. Well I hope he learns quick as I’m taking the 50/1 with PP as they are going 7 places, he is on offer at 60/1 elsewhere but first 5 places only.
He won the Spanish Open well a month ago and then did well in the BMW PGA the following week. He disappeared without trace in the Irish Open, but then plenty did, and was then solid looking in the Nordea Masters in Sweden. At the BMW last week, for 3 rounds he looked like the winner to me, he played superb golf. What happened in the last round i don’t know, I would have thought that winning the Spanish Open would have given him the balls for a final day.
If he plays the way he did in the first 3 rounds, I think he has to be thereabouts at the finish. But if he is leading going into the last round, I’ll not be letting Mr Power off so easily this time.
I think your Scott Brown at 150/1 in the Greenbrier is a good shout, I’ve bet him in running recently, but he didn’t come through. he looks like he could pop up on a going day at a big price.
Best of luck

July 7, 2015 at 11:11 #1126193ZACH JOHNSON 11/1

KEVIN KISNER 20/1
No doubt luck will change for Kevin another playoff loss at weekend but he is in form will pick up a title soon.
STEVEN BOWDITCH 60/1
Aussie won on tour already this year play well last week with recent form at this event as well can be a dangerous at a big price.
PATRICK RODGERS 80/1
He is great at getting birdies so a course where you need to sink them will suit him think he do well here this week.
BRYCE MOLDER 100/1
Play well last week but failed to hole the puts gave himself many chances but not take them decent record he got here can do better.
July 7, 2015 at 15:50 #1126298Well done BIG G with James Morrison came 2nd and played well
Any bets this week
Thanks Darren, his double bogey on the last in the first round somewhat ruined an otherwise good opening round, but he was solid thereafter and I was happy enough with the second place. I haven’t got any ante post golf bets on, I tend to put them on at the start of the week that the event is on, and sometimes an in running bet.
Not surprisingly I’m sticking with my man Morrison, generally 50/1, and 6 places with several bookies. He hasn’t done that well in this event before, but I think he’s playing his best golf for a long time. If he can keep up the standard he’s shown of late, he looks good value to me at that price. I’ve also had a few quid on him on the first round betting at the same price and 6 places.
I’m also having a few quid e/w on Miguel Angel Jimenez at 100/1. He’s had a hot and cold season, but he has the game for links golf, he had a cracking 69 in the first round of the US open before ruining it on the second day. He’s also played some excellent golf finishing 2nd in both the Spanish Open and the BMW PGA. He’s getting on a bit (that’s rich coming from me) but at those odds you don’t have to risk much to make it worth your while.
I think you are spot on with Kevin Kisner in the John Deere. I bet him in play in the Greenbrier. I’m not keen mentioning historic bets that I didn’t put up prior to the event, it always sounds a bit dubious, so I’ll just print a copy of the 2 in running bets in case someone thinks I’m at it.

He is banned from Davis cup this for comments he made so can see him taking it out on his players this week.Got beat in 3sets by Nadal at Stuttgart and loss to Novak at Wimbledon. In decent form while he may face Isner in semi final think he beat him.
July 13, 2015 at 12:48 #1132660Know you on holiday big g but any bets for the open and happy with Rickie last week but gutted over Zach Johnson had them in a double so that was awfull.
July 14, 2015 at 23:39 #1136301Hi Darren, I got back from holiday yesterday.
Well done with Rickie Fowler, that was a good call. You had hard luck with Zach Johnson, you would have had a cracking double with those two. I thought I was going to be in the e/w money with Jimenez, but he missed out by a stroke. At 100/1 it would have been worthwhile.
Looking forward to The Open, I’ll put my picks for that on The Open thread that you opened.
Good luck
