Hi all,
As you may know, I’m a keen American racing follower and mainly play the California tracks. Sometimes do the Belmont & Aqueduct circuits dependant on race quality.
I’ll be putting up selections here about 15 minutes before each race at Golden Gate Fields over the next couple of days and will continue the thread if we start to go well.
The reason I’ll be putting the selections up 15 minutes before is because I’m a big parade watcher at GGF. If a horse acts up at GGF it normally puts me off it and rightly so.
I’ll be putting up Hollywood Park selections too. The main target is the Breeders Cup where HOPEFULLY the amount of time I’ve spent watching the US Circuit will put me in a good position to offer you a bit of insight into the American horses.
I’ll keep all my selections to one post per day so keep checking back that my posts have been edited. I’ll update a rolling +/- too.
Late Note: I’ll be settling all bets at the American SP rather than the Betfair Prices. Just makes it easier for checkback
All the best,
DanMay 24, 2009 at 16:58 #229850That sounds really good, Dan. Hopefully, we’ll all be in seventh Heaven when we follow your thread.
Don’t despair if you don’t come up trumps within the first twelve months; you’ll be in good company on here, me included.
Many have tried. The success is in the trying, not the losing.

KThanks Ken. I’ll keep the thread ticking over most definitely.
I really enjoy the California circuit. Theres something a bit special about it and, of course, it all leads to one of the best meetings in the world!

Summary
All in all a reasonably poor day in which we didnt lose as much as we could have. Low priced favourites were going in all over the place until later in the card. A poor start but I anticipate this to pick up again pretty soon.2 winners from 18 and still ending only 6 points down isnt too bad.
May 25, 2009 at 05:16 #229972I loved some of the names of the horses – Catifornya. Obviously, Dover Street Art was an ex-European horse (previously owned by Richard Green???)
When a European import turns up, are you automatically able to work out what class of race it is suited to, or are you sometimes surprised by them showing hitherto unexposed talent?

It’s really interesting to see how many ex-English and Irish trained horses are shifted over to California.
At the moment theres Oui Say Oui, Elletelle, Battle of Hastings, Midships and Doughnut to name a few. Battle of Hastings really suprised me by being a pretty top class horse in California. It’s a bit harder but it helps to have a bit of background on their UK form for sure.
It’s also interesting to see that the UK horses seem to be continuing their dominance at Santa Anita on the polytack. The Euro team definitely have the upper hand.
Ex-AOB sprinter US Ranger runs tonight in the big race against some really nice milers. He has a fantastic chance

Summary
All in all a productive day. Decent tally of winners and pretty much erasing yesterdays losses.May 26, 2009 at 19:16 #230286Hi Dan, clerical error at Golden Gate Fields, either 5/1 or £10 less.
I’m not going to ask about US Ranger, as I gave up on him a very long time ago.

Well spotted Gerald! I’ll ammend that
As for US Ranger…..well……he came last. Ran a stinker.
May 26, 2009 at 21:37 #230317Hi Dan,
good luck with the thread.
just thought I would point out when you put an 8 as the last letter in a bracket you get emoticon so if you didnt want that you can put a full stop after the 8 for example (posted 22:08.)
Blackbeard to conquer the World
May 26, 2009 at 22:04 #230325Or just turn emoticons off for any post with an 8 followed by a )
May 30, 2009 at 15:22 #231070Hi guys,
Back on with the selections tonight. Hollywood Park and Golden Gate Fields both have big nights tonight with the climax being the Gamely Stakes over in Hollywood Park.
Dont forget, next week it’s the Belmont Stakes! I’ll be putting up a Pick 4 for you all at Belmont next week too.

June 4, 2009 at 01:48 #231840You should stick to studying our racing mate, its obvious you can hold your own on here, so dedicate the time you use to watch the USA racing
on our own and you will be TAPK 2,otherwise your head will explode!June 4, 2009 at 03:13 #231863You should stick to studying our racing mate, its obvious you can hold your own on here, so dedicate the time you use to watch the USA racing
on our own and you will be TAPK 2,otherwise your head will explode!Haha in honestly, I’ve not done too badly over the last few months. It gives me quite a lot of cash to play on for our racing. Some weeks it doubles my betting bank. Weeks like ‘Week 2’ I had on here are pretty common. Market moves are real telling too.
I do really enjoy the American racing. It’s a real big thrill seeing a horse youve backed come round that final turn with the jockey not even giving the horse it’s head yet.
Hopefully I can provide a decent Pick 4 for the Belmont stakes though
Definitely get your point though mate. Too much racing can do more harm than good most of the time
