Horrible fall at the third last in the 1:35 at Haydock today. After falling she rolled over 3-4 times and remained motionless with her limbs up in the air.
May she rest in peace
By the way, did we have one single day in the past two weeks without a fatality? I’m just talking GB and IRE
May 11, 2024 at 15:20 #1693917This is the first year that I’ve been able to record ITV racing. There has only been one weekend this NH season that I’ve been able to rewatch. After following racing for most of my life I’m really struggling with it. What is really upsetting me at the moment is noticing how many horses lose their lives in races after they’ve won their previous race.
May 11, 2024 at 15:29 #1693922Dreadful last two weeks in racing,
poor Czech Her Out.
Does NH actually end for a while,? It seems to be going on forever and the ground is drying out.RIP Beautiful girl🌹💔
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 11, 2024 at 15:33 #1693923I actually woke up thinking about Betty Balloo this morning. Even if I don’t actually see a race I can’t seem to move on from it.
May 11, 2024 at 17:44 #1693953I know Hidden Law was a freak accident and on flat.
But as for the others lost, I really don’t like jump racing at this time of the year. I know a lot point to point on summer ground also. But I’d rather national hunt stick to none summer months.
We have lost far to many this last monthVf x
May 11, 2024 at 18:04 #1693956Not related to this case, but the thing that gets me is how many seem to be lost through breaking legs between fences nowadays, especially the hind limbs.
I’ve watched racing for 40 years and unless my mind serves me wrong, I don’t recall this happening so often. Falls at obstacles, yes, and occasionally front leg breakdowns, but it seems every week there’s another one with a horrible high back leg break while just lobbing along mid race.
I don’t know if it’s breeding, training or ground, but it feels like that shouldn’t be happening so much.

May 11, 2024 at 19:55 #1693978I’m so glad I was busy on a zoom meeting so I missed this.
Another one with a great record of completion and her first ever fall … so sad …
Moehat I’m with you on that one – can’t put her out of my mind.
EnniskeaneFlame I could have written that – I can’t understand why so many like you say just lobbing along and a leg breaks …May 11, 2024 at 20:11 #1693983I keep thinking of her, at a track that she called her own, trying to continue racing. I know I probably overuse the term heartbreaking, but that truly was. I don’t know how connections can ever get over it.
