In all the years I have been compiling speed figures, the going allowance I ended up with for yesterday’s meeting at Cork of -3.34s/f (quagmire) shocked me.
Previously the worst going allowance I had on record of -2.50s/f was held by Ffos las, if you compare the going allowances against my turf going allowance table, the bottom limit I currently have is -1.58s/f (heavy).

Timeform described Cork as: “these conditions pushed the definition of raceable to its very limit”.
Value Is EverythingDecember 13, 2017 at 18:35 #1331849Interesting indeed! Out of interest, how bad have you seen Haydock on your figures? i always associate it with being a bog.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 14, 2017 at 03:18 #1331902Interesting indeed! Out of interest, how bad have you seen Haydock on your figures? i always associate it with being a bog.
The meeting held at Haydock on the 25/11/2017, I had the hurdles course at -0.68s/f (soft) and the chase course at -1.04s/f (heavy).
Due to the extreme conditions at Cork, Top Speed had the going at -3.00s/f, which to me was an underestimation as he only had speed figures for only 3 of the 6 races.
