Janika @ 56.5/1
Been looking at this one for a while now and finally took the plunge, a bit of a risky one without NRNB.
Has a Ryanair entry and you could see him running a decent race to finish in the top half dozen or so maybe. Maybe a mark of 160 over fences is pushing it for a for a handicap chase as well.
Ran quite well last month over hurdles for a long way before understandably getting tired after a long break. Trainer has won 4 out of the last 10 runnings of this so clearly likes the race.
Only ran once more over hurdles when starting FAV for the Relkeel Hurdle last year. Jumped the last alongside Summerville Boy and Roksana to finished 4th not beated too far.
No idea on the entries but if he were to rock up here it would be hard to see a better handicapped horse (on paper anyway) in the race.
February 21, 2021 at 01:06 #1523923With Champagne Platinum heading for The Pertemps, I’m turning my attention to Palmers Hill. Always liked him, and hoping he’s back to his best at Newbury today.
Not in the betting at the moment for this, but hopefully a decent show today, which will be enough to see him in the entries this week.
February 23, 2021 at 15:59 #1524746Palmers Hill gets his entry, but not the greatest prep on Sunday, I was disappointed.
He’s still on my radar though, but hardly in any rush, few others I’d consider right now.
It’s very easy just to list a few Mullins horses, but it’s very hard to leave most of them out, and the early shortlist has a few of his.
Burbank
Great White Shark
Heaven Help Us
Koshari
Stratum
UradelDefinitely sitting this out just now
February 24, 2021 at 08:28 #1525118just backed koshari 16/1 entered for this and not county hurdle. cheltmental showing entries for most races
February 24, 2021 at 09:02 #1525122Quotes flying about from Elliott saying Black Tears more likely to head to the Mares Hurdle than come here, which is understandable given how the Mares has cut up.
Koshari would be my main fancy now if Black Tears doesn’t go but i’m leaving it alone for now.
March 4, 2021 at 20:38 #1527112Really want to bet Great White Shark for this at 14’s, but that’s my betting done, so I’ll leave this until Final Decs.
March 7, 2021 at 16:54 #1527854On The Blindside – Skipping Cheltenham
Blue Lord – Supreme or County (Fingers crossed County)
Column Of Fire – May go here or the MP off top weight. His form makes it really hard to fancy him but I just think they have unfinished business with him
Black Tears – Really hope they choose this race over the Mares hurdle. Should hit the frame at a decent price
Added Blue Sari at 25’s – Very fragile horse but his form is rock solid if he is in good health I can’t see him out the frame. JP loves a runner in this and he has a nice race weight although may go to the County.Love getting stuck into this race but it’s costing me a bit at the moment in NR’s. Anyone else sat on anything they like?
March 7, 2021 at 23:54 #1527907Barnaviddaun 20/1 NRNB is my first bet here.
135 is more than fair for a beating of Damalisque (bolted up and ran well in 3rd since) and although next season might be the time to catch this beast since his switch to David Bridgewater, the 20/1 is more than fair.
March 8, 2021 at 10:05 #1528008After saying last night I was going to wait for this one, very close to having a bet.
Mill Green was a real eyecatcher in last years Martin Pipe (has another entry there), and bit of a difficult ride. Finished really well though, and if it wasn’t for the big shortlist, I’d already have bet him.
33’s NRNB is very tempting
March 8, 2021 at 21:08 #1528153I agree with Mill Green VtC, a real eye catcher in last years Martin Pipe. Flat out the whole way around though so he’ll need every inch of the trip on likely quicker ground than last year. Just enough to put me off backing him.
Looks like my 40/1 Black Tears ticket is up in smoke so my eye is now drawn to Botox Has as backup. Course form reads well and his runs this season suggest a step up in trip will help. Missed the big prices so not yet taking the 20s, hoping for bigger on the day.
March 9, 2021 at 00:43 #1528170Yeah, he’d need a lot to go his way TYT, but he’s definitely made the shortlist. Unfortunately thst shortlist is jam packed just now, so no bet for now.

Debestyman (E)March 15, 2021 at 17:06 #1529657Finger in the air time but here are my top 6 for an open event:
Breffniboy (Reserve) 168
Guard Your Dreams 167
Kashari 165
Birchdale 165
Garo De Juilley 164
Dysart Diamond 162A little complicated by having a reserve as top rated. We’ll have to see if that one gets a run, but if he does 33/1 seems well worth a dig.
Guard Your Dreams (11/1, 12/1 in places) is an upwardly mobile novice who ran a very decent race in the Betfair and should be favoured by the extra 5 furlongs. Improved every race and looks a very strong contender.
Kashari (8/1) popped up after a three year break at Cork and ran very well over three miles at Leopardstown. I would presume willie Mullins had this as a target at the start of the season.
Birchdale has bitty form and rating is rather dubious based on last year’s Cheltenham form. Good enough at best but big question mark.
Garo De Juilley (50/1) has solid form on the French circuit. His Bangor form against an improver has a solid look and his price looks very generous given that’s he’s an in form animal that has operated competitively at this level.March 15, 2021 at 23:36 #1529753I’m going to stay loyal to Palmers Hill here. He looked top notch a couple of years back, and I really did think he’d progress, but clearly had his issues. His two runs this season, hardly offer encouragement, but if back on song that price will do for me. Win only just now, but I’ll also add him 7 Places as well.
There’s loads in there to be scared of, particularly those from the Mullins and Henderson yards.
I’ll add another outsider. I had a long look at Garo De Juilley and Dans Le Vent, but I think that Burbank could outrun his massive odds, and I’ll side with him just now, though I do like Garo as well. At current prices, I can easily have three. Decide tomorrow.
Palmers Hill 33’s
March 15, 2021 at 23:45 #1529755I like Botchy’s shout here – looks a great bet on Janika that. Ran like a drain on reappearance but he’s chucked in off his chase mark.
March 16, 2021 at 11:03 #1529813Jonjo and his son Jonjo have an absolute proper classic Jonjo/JP plot job in this, I’ll be backing it
March 16, 2021 at 18:45 #1530072Palmers hills cd form plus a nice weight def makes him of interest , I’m also having a good look at Nelson river , one of the younger horses and was 4th in a triumph hurdle so I could see him run well again off a low weight
