Why does it matter if Arabs own the club? As long as they keep it successful and don’t screw over the fans, I don’t see the big deal. We’re fine with them propping up the flailing sport of horse racing, why not football?
Eerm..because they have shafted Portsmouth and left them in a pile of steaming stuff perhaps ?
January 26, 2010 at 20:28 #272244Arabs are fine….but this particular instance has done nothing but ruin the club. There close to being wound up. There has been 3 or 4 different owners in a year or something like that
January 26, 2010 at 20:35 #272246I see what you mean
. Why is Coolmore getting into this mess, then?January 26, 2010 at 22:03 #272258After Coolmore’s Debacle in Manchester United where they managed to turn half the club against them I.E the fans. When i talk about Coolmore i mean JP/Magnier btw.
Not sure why they would get involved especially geting into bed with Kaddafi’s son is a strange strange move. Nevertheless they don’t seem a Football Crazy people, my guess its either a fun investment or they want to make a few quid by selling it in a few years once the upturn happens in the economy.
I don’t believe they are coming into save the club that could go belly up….there must be a alternative motive
January 26, 2010 at 22:09 #272265Manchester United would welcome Coolmore into ownership with open arms given the mess the Yanks are making of them.
The ‘fit & proper persons’ test seems to have serious failings at the moment. The Glazers at United, Briatore at QPR, the Arabs at Portsmouth & Notts County, the Yanks at Liverpool. I think there’s a few more too.
What puzzles me is why they’d even bother with football. You could own 500 horses that are all rubbish & you’d still keep hold a your money longer than you would at a football club.
Although if they were to get involved, they could have vets follow round some of the players with green screens: ‘Now then son, are you SURE you’re injured?’
