Assuming he runs at Kempton and depending on what level of horse turns up in opposition, I think many (if not all) questions will finally be answered as to what level he is actually at on the flat.
If he gets properly stuffed with no excuses, it really leaves them in a pickle as to what they do next with him, would they continue racing him at a lower level, maybe listed class or even in big handicaps or do they finally pull up stumps and retire him once and for all?

I don’t think they would deign to let him be a lowly (or even good) handicapper or scrapping for listed placings. He’s got an Irish St Leger entry- assume Nicky just trolling us with that, unless he’s totally delulu.
If he gets whupped in the September Stakes the trainer will blame it on fitness (which will be partially true) then fuss and faff about crying that there aren’t any races. (Of course he’ll have a handicap mark by then, but AW handicapping is just Not Our Class, Dear.

It was always unlikely that one of them would give up riding at one of the prestige afternoon meetings.

In what races? He’s already won a maiden and a novice and, at 101, he’s too highly rated to get into most, if not quite all, AW handicaps during the summer months.
So where could he have run?
One day they’ll name a race after him and every year it will be abandoned because of the going.

One or two races isn’t exactly “all summer” though, is it? Let’s say he bolted up in another novice under a double penalty and then “did a Trueshan” and won the Northumberland Plate under top weight (although he still wouldn’t have been anywhere near that great stayer’s 120 OR). What then?
You know, Nathan: the horse who will beat Gaelic Warrior into third in next year’s Gold Cup, behind Beorma.
Thing is, there would have been opportunities further afield than the British A/W tracks but we all know how resistant to travelling his horses Hendo can be.
That G1 race Tiffany (rated 112) won in Germany a couple of weeks ago had 10yr old Dubai Future (officially rated 113) finish 3rd and was run on good ground – horses rated around that level are due to run in the Windsor race and are also likely to run in the Kempton race so options are available if you think a little outside the box and are willing to travel.

Who’d have guessed Nicky would bottle it and scratch him again. It’s getting to be a complete joke at this point. At least leave him in to see if the rain comes.
The September Stakes is often used as a stepping stone towards the Arc or Champions Day for very classy horses.

He’s scratched the horse early as he doesn’t want to run and knows there’d be heavy criticism if he waited until Friday when the rain may have come.
He’s been talking about that Windsor race for a couple of months but he’s seen the decent opposition and ran for the hills again.
If a couple of top class horses turn up for the September Stakes, I’ll honestly be surprised if he doesn’t scratch him again.
