Does anyone find it troubling that the attacks both directly and indirectly on Ms Hislop seem to be co-ordinated. AP McCoy has done nothing for the sport except make himself very rich. He thinks that it is more important to boycott RUK and damage the sport because he gets slated for his powder puff ride on a Jonjo market drifter!
The poor woman has done nothing but stand up for punters and I am disgusted at the lack of support from other journalists. Who is good for the sport Lydia or Jonjo and his antics?
Don’t know what Lydia said, but hope AP does not boycott Timeform too. Although with them you’ve got to read between the lines.

You are joking, right? AP has done more than any journalist ever will for this sport, that’s for certain. As for Ms Hislop, she’s a very good writer but not a natural for television- her delivery is often too gabbled, in my opinion. Still, she does a fine job on RUK.
Her comments on Get Me Out Of Here. Seems that Mr Sports personality isn’t accepting criticism of his rides. As I said what AP has put into the sport is nowt comapared to what he has taken out. He gets a massive reatiner and has to do his masters bidding and can’t take criticism like a man.
It’s bullying and anti free speech. I hope he is proud of himself. A few of Lydia’s colleagues should stand up and be counted. Maybe Alistair Down will write a piece critcising AP and backing up Lydia in the RP!

It really was all bets off at Ludlow last week in horse racing’s planned charm offensive to help get Grand National winner Tony McCoy over the line as BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
McCoy (right), watching Racing Uk’s coverage in the weighing room, was furious when serially spiky presenter Lydia Hislop criticised the great man’s riding of Get Me Out Of Here at Ascot.
So much so that McCoy, who is unfailingly affable with the media, wants nothing more to do with the channel when Lydia – unkindly nicknamed Hideous Flipflop by the jockeys – is around.
A Racing UK spokesman said: ‘We understand AP McCoy disagreed with a discussion point between our presenter and pundit which reflected a range of opinions on Get Me Out Of Here’s performance.
‘He declined an invitation to appear on the channel to elaborate or respond.

I’m not sure they’ve got that right. He’s a top jockey, one of the best if not the best ever, but he can be Mr Grumpy at times can he not?

I do think that she should be supported as it shows a lot of integrity to stand up to a bully like AP. It does matter as the jockeys just want to go about pulling their tricks with no questions to answer. Certainly not good for the longterm health of the sport.

I don’t think it could ever be said that McCoy hasn’t done anything for British racing, Deckster, but it’s equally true that his recent outburst against Ms Hislop was petulant at the very least. He, nor anyone else, is beyond criticism and his actions were unbecoming of a 15-time champion jockey.
Perhaps Hislop’s comments simply cut too close to the bone.
Whether or not other journalists should have rallied around the under-fire Hislop is open to question though. I’m sure she doesn’t need people to fight battles for her and history has taught us that the racing media is, by and large, as limp-wristed as it gets.
Lydia Hislop is a first class presenter and journalist who put forward her view of the way a ride was given and why not, jockeys should not be above criticism.
McCoy’s behaviour shows why racing will never learn.
Mister Hyde, Get Me Out Of Here, the numerous Jonjo improver’s – does he want to discuss these issues in an interview? No, thought not.
Because, despite racing supposedly having a symbiotic relationship with betting, all punters don’t matter and should get stuffed in the view of racing professionals.
My Tony McCoy should not win the BBC award some want him to win campaign will be getting into full swing soon. Despite my less than affectionate nature towards social networking sites they do have a use.
There seems to be an outbreak of people whose reputations the rest of us are expected to take on trust and of whom we are not supposed to ask questions.
"Respect" needs to be earned, and a part of that process is being prepared to submit yourself to reasonable criticism.
Let me be honest and say that I do not have access to RUK, so I did not hear the comments made by Ms Hislop or Tony McCoy’s response. However, isn’t this just banter and opinion which may be intersting to a point but hardly worthy of forming divisions and assembling armies.
I suspect that the lady could have raised the point she made without using personal criticism of either trainer or jockey,and I would suggest that the old adage ‘least said, soonest mended’ could well apply in this case.
I will say that a lot of reporting tends to be a little irksome at times and maybe quite a few of our well known commentaters,reporters,and jockeys and trainers are quite capable of upsetting folk….Matt Chapman,Big Mac (the silly burger),even nice but dim Sir Robert of ATR,he of the runaway tongue. On the opposite side and going back a few years I remember those like the great Lester had a bitter wit as did Greville Starkey at times.
It’s time to make up folks and bury the hatchet. I can assure the jounalists that not too many punters/racing fans like to see or hear this kind of thing. We all have opinions on bad rides and we have a habit of forming said opinions without all of the facts.It’s time to stop squabbling and look at the bigger picture. A racing man, one of our own, stands on the precipice of a major sporting honour – Sports Personality of the Year.
I don’t know if he’ll do interviews with Lydia Hislop or anyone else from RUK and, quite frankly, I don’t really care. I’ve seen enough from the paddock interviews he has done on other channels to come to the conclusion that he deserves all our support. He’ll certainly be getting my vote.
It’s time for Racing to Unite in the common interest…and vote for Lee Westwood.

The spectacle of AP now aided by Robert Thornton ganging up on a journalist is so pathetic. I the think this is a case of the jockeys reminding the fearless hacks how things really work. No criticism or else. When lydia was on the BBC she made short work of some of the weighing room and exactly the same thing happened to her then. Boycott then she left the BBC!
It is truly disgusting and it has taken a non racing hack to go into print with this one. What a pathetic sport we have when the champion jockey has to victimise a female journalist who criticised his work. Shame on AP.

Yesterday’s bash at the Cafe Royal saw champion jockey AP McCoy, below, placed opposite respected Racing UK presenter and Times journalist Lydia Hislop. McCoy has little time for Hislop since she questioned the experience of one of his mounts in her column. Asked what he thought of the comments McCoy replied: "How many winners has she ridden?" There was no love lost between the pair yesterday.
