I just think hes not the same horse as last year, and even if he was ,he cant win it ,i figure 6 or 7th would be a good run for him this time round if he aint pulled up !
March 7, 2009 at 01:55 #214024Getting near to the moment of truth and I fear I’d jinx something for us if I didn’t come on here championing the little fella
Tough season, some patchy work at home… I think he just achieved too much too soon and can’t quite cope with having nothing left to aim for
He’ll be right there two from home and we’ll see if he still loves the hill
C’mon Katchit!!!!
The very best of luck, Katchit. It’s all very well us lot talking about the horses we’re going to back but you’re actually living the dream which knocks a few winning bets into a cocked hat any time.
I won’t begrudge the little fella one bit if he proves me wrong and battles up the hill to win on the line.

He wont tuffers truth me
March 7, 2009 at 01:57 #214028Katchit is an admirable little fella, and if he’s regained his appetite for the game, on his fave course, he might well be in the shake-up.
Best of luck to connections.
March 7, 2009 at 02:24 #214043I very big on last years novices this year Katchit, but good luck with katchit once again, remembering of course that sizing europe wasnt getting beat last year, no-one knows what will happen on the day. One things for sure though, Katchit is a 5yo winner rechallening at 6yo and on that alone he deserves his place in the field.
March 7, 2009 at 02:45 #214060Don’t think anyone wouldn’t be happy to see him run a big race again; I just feel chuffed at the thought of seeing all of them walk round the paddock, let alone run! am getting all emotional already…..
March 7, 2009 at 03:23 #214083I agree Katchit would be a popular winner emotionally, but I can’t see him doing it. This year’s race does look stronger with Binny and Brave Inca and Katchit is not in the same form.
Asssuming Sizing Europe does not turn into jelly at the 3rd last he’ll be a big danger.
Hurry up Tuesday!

March 7, 2009 at 05:28 #214120I seem to remember a lot of numptys, including yours truly, writing Katchit off for last seasons race. I won’t be doing so again.
Again, I don’t fancy Katchit – but don’t rule out the Champ.
March 7, 2009 at 13:39 #214135It’s hard to guess where Katchit will finish because it’s such a competitive field but although i cant see him winning, my moneys on Binocular i think he’s more than capable of running to a place.
Blackbeard to conquer the World
March 7, 2009 at 17:02 #214175Horses for Courses, How can you knock the Champ, he has been there
and got the T- shirt, that says " i am the champ and dont you forget it"
from a non biased view, imagine Katchit rousted from 3 out, Binny sat stalking, and stalking, choc hits the front at the last, Binny still stalking,
A.P unleashes him with 100yds to run Katchit digs deep, Binnys trying to
get his head past the Champ, its a battle royal, nip n tuck but Katchit
wont let him past! who is the biggest roar for? the 5/4 fav or the 12/1 champ! i know who my money would be on!!March 7, 2009 at 17:51 #214178Admirable though Katchit is there have been any number of clues this year that he is not the force of old. Both on the track and from the mouth of his trainer. I opposed him in the Triumph and supported him last year but he is not on any short list this time as I think his two fantastically successful but gruelling seasons have diminished his talent.
Alan King was clearly very confident at the start of the season and in October laid out a five month, five race schedule to the media leading to the Champion Hurdle…within a fortnight he changed that sensible plan. Katchit was clearly not pleasing him at home and in addition the horse had not travelled with any zest in his races. I haven’t seen signs of his old ability and other avenues such as blinkers have been considered.
Also it looks a better race this year, so I expect a typically brave but fruitless performance this time.March 7, 2009 at 18:19 #214181The break has reignited him, and the blinkers were only considered briefly. I was at Newbury with Alan last week and he was really unsure what to do.
On Wednesday Katchit worked in blinkers and basically told Alan he wasn’t going to run if he was expected to wear a silly hat…
This morning Alan we got the call we were hoping for from the yard… and now we’re all very excited…The thing about the CH for me is that it doesn’t really matter if it’s a great year or a moderate one (and by who’s judgement)… these are the very best, the margins of victory and defeat although may be lengths at times, are absolutely tiny… the winner will be the champion, and he/she will be deserving!
Good luck, whoever you back…
March 7, 2009 at 23:44 #214208I see Noel Meades string are all here for the festival, is Jered among them?
as he has just gone 50 on the machine!March 7, 2009 at 23:48 #214209Might be someting to do with the prospect of soft ground on the first day of the festival. Jered needs it good to be at his best.
Paul has also gone for Harchi ahead of him. David Casey set to pick up the spare so I’m told.

Perhaps he took one look at the Hill and laid himself?
In all seriousness, it may well be the increasing likelihood of soft ground.
