August 10, 2023 at 07:56 #1659271Nice bet SS. I thought he won well after looking like he might be struggling.
Jane Chapple Hyam clearly thinks enough of him to have already run him in Group company. I don’t believe she is the sort of trainer to do that just for a nice day out, so she must think he is quite good.
August 10, 2023 at 20:38 #1659326City of Troy’s performance looks better each week. He still has to keep improving but can only see him getting better the further he goes. Aidan does seem to have a group of cracking 2yos so really hard to fathom who goes where. Very surprised river tiber rerouted to France.
August 14, 2023 at 21:21 #1659788Watched aidans sporting life interview with aidan. Usual stuff about the horses but found his talk on breeding fascinating. George opel and Peter brandt obviously now part of coolmore now. John magnier wanted to get justify so probably enlisted their help. Aidan said magnier always looking to tweet the breeding side. Also magnier wanting horses that can be top on dirt and grass.
Always thought magnier would do this and justify a great pathway to that.September 8, 2023 at 17:38 #1662199AOB is already suggesting this could be a triple crown horse.
The things I want most in life are the things that I can't win.
September 8, 2023 at 20:31 #1662208This sh*t again. That ship sailed with Camelot (albeit arguably unfairly). Seems like a good horse but takes soundness, stamina and speed to win the triple crown.
October 14, 2023 at 14:07 #1666619I enjoyed the finish of the race today, that was everything that I wanted to see. I had a slight wobble two furlongs out, but I’m a lot more confident now as he’s put away for the winter
October 14, 2023 at 14:10 #1666621Kris I’m pleased for you
Hope he smashes all before him next year.
Think he’d have beaten a 2 y/o FrankelBlackbeard to conquer the World
October 14, 2023 at 14:23 #1666632Thank you Nathan, I’m not the type of punter to be in this position very often, so I have to enjoy it when I can. When I first mentioned him on the thread for The Coventry, I didn’t imagine for a second that he’d be this exciting
October 14, 2023 at 14:30 #1666634Oh, did you have to bring Frankel into it, Nathan?
Performance-wise Frankel never really showed what he could do when a two year old.
If I remember rightly he was only joint top-rated by Timeform, although they did have a belief he’d make an absolutely exceptional three year old.City Of Troy is probably AOB’s best ever two year old.
…And if Coolmore hadn’t talked up every top two year old they’ve ever had I do believe people would be taking far more interest in what he says about City Of Troy.
From all I know about the horse he does have an excellent chance of being “The best we’ve ever had”.
(“We” meaning Coolmore).Value Is EverythingOctober 14, 2023 at 14:34 #1666638AOB said it is his best 2yo and he still isn’t tired, the horse that is. I don’t go for all this 2yo hype but I think he maybe deserving of it.
The things I want most in life are the things that I can't win.
October 14, 2023 at 14:34 #1666639“Oh, did you have to bring Frankel into it, Nathan?”
Sorry, I’ve been waiting a long time for this Ginge..
City of Troy certainly has the potential but as we know anything can happen from 2-3 y/oBlackbeard to conquer the World
October 14, 2023 at 14:36 #1666640Where did they say “Triple Crown”?
A horse with that speed, breeding and needing a X noseband… very much doubt they’d run COT in the Leger even if winning the first two legs.Value Is EverythingOctober 14, 2023 at 14:39 #1666643Hope Troy wins for you Kris.
Value Is EverythingOctober 14, 2023 at 14:40 #1666644I have 16/1 for the Guineas (not after timing, I flagged him at the same time as Kris).
I suppose I should now lay him back. If it was any other horse I would. But I honestly believe nothing is going to get near him in the Guineas.
All laying him back would be is an insurance policy against injury.
I am sure Kris said he got 20/1 for the Derby, which makes me very envious! I only have 9/2 but I still think that is fair. If he wins the Guineas well, they will surely go to Epsom.
I even wonder if he might be worth a speculative punt for the St Leger, given Coolmore clearly have some sort of preoccupation with the Triple Crown.
October 14, 2023 at 14:43 #1666647Think you mention triple crown on this thread below, Ginge
Blackbeard to conquer the World
October 14, 2023 at 14:50 #1666655My quote came from something in the press back in September.
The things I want most in life are the things that I can't win.
