Kool Kompany 15:00 Chester Saturday …. Can someone talk me out of this because this looks a shoe in IMO
Only front runner in the field?
A massive drop in class?
7f ?
Good Ground?
Proven Group winner?
Joe Fanning 8-11 ?ATR are saying this will be around 3/1?
???
July 10, 2015 at 07:40 #1128129Certainly looks the one to beat. Negative factors being the limited success of 3 year olds in the race and the penalty.
July 10, 2015 at 08:53 #1128148Lightning Thunder (blinkered for first time) and (if can get out better than has of late) Miracle Of Medinagh are two that are drawn better than Kool Complany and might take him on at the front. Kool Company looked flattered in the Craven, getting an easy lead and may not be able to confirm that form if he does not get another easy time up front. If they do go a good pace then Zarwaan and the enigmatic Gabriel. Latter in particular will need a truly run race at the trip. In an Even money match bet I’d prefer Zarwaan against Kool Company, although Ed Dunlop’s form is a bit of a worry.
Value Is EverythingJuly 10, 2015 at 09:40 #1128154Kool Kompany is 5-7 in fields of 8 or less, with both defeats coming in G1 company. One was a tame 5th in the Middle Park, where soft ground may have been an excuse. The other was a 1/2 length second to Dick Whittington in the Phoenix Stakes.
Up against a field of has-beens and handicappers, I think he’s a great bet at 15/8 or bigger.
I wouldn’t pay much attention to ATR’s forecast prices though. The forecast is never made to a realistic overround.
July 10, 2015 at 09:40 #1128155My concerns are:-
1. The ATR price guide can be way off the mark at times
2. Kool Kompany has been mucked about in trip this season.
3. He’s tackling older horses but only getting 3 lbs from some of them.
4. My biggest concern, Richard Hannon was on an 18.5% strike rate in May, 16% in June, but in July he is only 5/61 so far, a far more worrying 8%
In fact, this month, Hannon has had 5 winners and an incredible 10 horses who have been last in their races

He may well win but I thought Storm The Stars at 3/1 for the Great Voltigeur was this year’s Christmas money.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
July 10, 2015 at 14:04 #1128230What about Chester, will the dog track suit Kool Kompany?
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
July 10, 2015 at 15:58 #1128284Hannon has said the course will suit KK.
we’ll see.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
July 10, 2015 at 16:23 #112828611/4 the best of the early prices on Kool Kompany. Zarwaan is 9/4 Fav with Paddy Power but 10/3 with Bet365.
A race to leave alone for me. Ed Dunlop has never been a trainer for me to follow and he’s had a blank month so far.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
July 10, 2015 at 18:46 #1128314Cheers for the replys hannon yard flying today another tick

The stable were actually only 8% on strike rate this month with five winners. Of course, as soon as anyone mentions something like that, BANG….the stable gets five winners in one day to double the total.
The one note of caution is that it is the 2yo horses who seem to be doing much better.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
July 10, 2015 at 20:34 #1128326I wouldn’t be too worried about Hannon have a lean time between Royal Ascot and now. Most of the runners have been his lesser lights and more exposed types.

I’ve backed Zarwaan @ 7/2 on the machine (he’s 100/30 with Bet 365) with savers on Dusky Queeen 8/1 and (just in case of getting an easy lead Kool Company @ 11/4 both with Paddy. Want to be against Gabriel (trip) Intransigent (poor run last time) Lightning Thunder (runs as if something not right) and Miracle Of Medinagh (out of form) at current prices.

Don’t forget the commission and/or premium charge on the machine if Zarwaan wins. Would have thought Gingertipster qualifies for the premium charge by now

If you want to see it like that Tim, yes. If putting the bet on now you’d be taking a 7.7% worse price, between 40/85 and 1/2. Zarwaan best price now 11/4 and Dusky Queen 6/1, Kool Company still 11/4. Everything else drifting.
Although Zarwaan is the only main bet, so it’s really a 7/2 bet with around a 13/8 saver; instead of (if betting now) 11/4 main bet and between 6/4 and 11/8 saver.
Or
Best way of looking at it is I’ve got 2.88/1 (less commision) with money back if either Kool Company or Dusky Queen win. Which considering Zarwaan is a best price less than that now without the money back concession if the fav or third fav wins – doesn’t seem too bad to me.

The best presently available on the others grouped (6/1 8/1 12/1 & 25/1) is between 13/8 and 7/4, so you do have a smidgen of value
