I’m sorry, I don’t understand.
Is that a type of biscuit please?

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"August 29, 2021 at 19:22 #1558487No, it was a Sparks hit that reached number 7, and Beat The Clock reached number 10. Add in another 9 that reached the UK Top 40 and sparks were certainly not a “one hit wonder”.
Biscuit wise give me a McVitie’s Digestive, a Fig Roll or Fox’s Milk Chocolate rounds.
August 29, 2021 at 19:25 #1558488Ah, it all makes sense now!
Thank you.
I’m not really into music that much and, mistakenly it seems, thought they were the archetypal one-hit wonder outfit.
Sound biscuit choices.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"August 29, 2021 at 19:41 #1558490I must admit I was surprised how many Top 40 entries Sparks had. I could remember 4, principally because I bought the singles, but some went under my radar. Anybody aged 50 or less probably haven’t a clue what we are on about!

They’d go just as well with a strong cup of tea on a cold morning or chilly evening.
August 29, 2021 at 20:44 #1558498Isn’t Hugo Palmer’s financial clout derived from the Huntly and Palmer biscuit business?
Sparks, far from being one-hit has-beens are one of the most influential bands of all. They have also just released a musical, Annette, starting Adam Driver and also have another film just out, The Sparks Brothers, which documents their 50 year career. Their music is well worth a deep delve.
August 29, 2021 at 22:16 #1558502Apparently the Palmer ancestral seat is in Manderston, Berwickshire which I presume adjacent to the Cormack Estate! Hugo is indeed descended from the biscuit family.
My grandmother worked for Huntley and Palmers in the 1930s and played for their Ladies Cricket Team. There were traditionally three big industries in Reading, beer (Courage and other brweries), bulbs (Suttons Seeds) and biscuits (Huntley and Palmers).
I played cricket a few times against Associated Biscuits who were the conglomerate who took over from Huntley and Palmers*. They played a ground at Kensington Road, which was near to and just to the north of the old Elm Park football ground in Reading. The ground was shared with the Huntley and Palmers FC team who played for many years in the Spartan League and reached the Semi-Final of the first ever FA Youth Cup in 1952-53 (There were 93 entries). I watched a few football games there and once ran the line on the ground which had a little grandstand on the Kensington Road side.
* I have an excellent book about the history of cricket at Huntley and Palmers written by an old cricketing foe of mine – Bats, Balls and Biscuits by Martin Bishop (Published by cricket Heritage Project)
August 30, 2021 at 08:35 #1558542I’m starting to sound really precious here as I am not a tea drinker either.
And maybe this is a personal persecution complex at work but I often feel both alcohol and tea drinkers assume everyone is!
HOWEVER, I DO like a cup of coffee from time to time so maybe said biscuit would go well with that?
In any event, I shall be on the look out for said biscuit.
At least, unlike the Fortnum & Masons suggestion (nice though they looked) I won’t have to remortgage to buy a packet!
£12.95p for a packet of biscuits – never thought I’d see the day in this post-1970s low inflation era!

Having already in the past consumed the rest of the Bahlsen range, I had to console myself with chocolate chip brownies and Loacker Classic Chocolate Wafers.
