January 2, 2023 at 17:19 #1629428Chezza’s DYING here, DYING!
Only 2nd January and Nathan’s already nailed 2023 Poster Of The Year with a 40-yard curving screamer bent into the top corner.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"January 3, 2023 at 03:36 #1629459I deny it, I didn’t offer him anything to vote for me, barring
tickets for the Krankies in Jack and the Beanstock at the Glasgow
Pavillion (seats up in the Gods and obscured viewing). That could
hadly be viewed as a bribe as they were trading at feck all, and a
free tenner to spend on Macaroon bars.Anyway he’s a grass, and nappy or no nappy I demand my free tenner back
(or said box of Macaroons) or it’s a kick in the Krankies and an afternoon
with Jack Beaur and a pair of plyers.January 3, 2023 at 08:06 #1629461Nathan 😅🤣😂 Lol..that was hilarious
and yes Ian I think Nathan’s not only nailed the Poster Of The Year 2023 trophy but this could well turn into Thread of The Year once Gladders gets on the case.
I’m booking best seats in the house Graham for the awards get out the hankys and prepare your lovey speeches guys I think this will run longer than The Mousetrap.

Far from realistic, however, as that child is far more eloquent than I could ever be.
January 4, 2023 at 15:33 #1629627That was quality Nathan!!! Had me laughing out loud!

but Gladders confessional cradle talk somewhat punctures the realism
“Far from realistic, however, as that child is far more eloquent than I could ever be.”
As Gladders proves you can still be nominated and secure a couple of clickster type votes even if you speak like Ray Winstone or any hard nutted villain prepared to spew word horror aberrations.
The art of eloquence has degenerated from it’s high point when the sages of Greek societies the Sophists prostituted the dictionary and took payment for teaching others the art of fine high talking rhetoric, either to win a legal case or persuade crowds en masse that their possibly amoral suggestion is the right one. Unsavoury effective fake means to achieve the result to win the crowd. What a load of word junkies !
It was indeed Aristotle who pinned down the three appealing crowd benders; ethos pathos and logos known as the rhetorical triangle. Gnats used pathos to good effect but was slightly short on logos and ethos – but still won the day.
It was the nineteenth century that junked rhetoric for the term oratory and Gladstone Disraeli and Bright practiced their skills in front of the mirror first thing with things like…
“Mirror mirror on the wall do not ask what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country ! ”
Mirror …” Far too modernistic – try to look down rather than up to aid sincerity and by the way, I hate the bathroom ”
Oratory skills have been trashed in the last fifty years by the much poorer relative and lower achiever
eloquence, as Gladders quite appositely referred to but be honest how often do you see it ? Read my lips – ” Peppa Pig world is very much my kind of place ” Give me the money ” motivational claptrap – and that substituted by the lies of fake news. The rot started in the thirties with the singing dancing Top Hat and later in the fifties with the now thought racist Happy Talk – where prancing singing dancing images pressed gang words to cajole and corrupt just as the sophists had done over 2000 years ago. We now have picture filled words – boo tube tij tog, instagray – fake news – but still retain the mute and the book – but for how long ?
