Fortunately Chezza only had an interest bet – plus admittedly an interest “press up” out of sheer pique when the price drifted! – so it won’t break the bank.

CAS has mildly resurrected Chezza’s interest in cricket this summer – The Oval possibly isn’t the benign batting wicket it was in the 70s and 80s anymore but, having said that, Chezza was chatting to an elderly lifelong cricket fan yesterday and he said The Oval was still far too easy a batting strip to this day and they really shouldn’t be playing Test cricket there at all!

    Game of opinions!

What were the odds of a tied match?
Reckon a tie could be classed a draw

I believe that in the event of tie, bookies settle bets on on either side to win as a dead heat.

That’s mad crazy in a way as a tie is the ultimate draw.
You can have a game where a team hits 600 for 1 Dec
Other team all out for 87
Following on 56 for 9 and then the rain washes the rest of the play out and it’s deemed a draw

This welcome (for the Draw bet) weather intervention invokes memories of when Chezza was frontman for 80s slightly Goth rock outfit “The Chezza:” https://youtu.be/RD5b_0QB0wI

I’ve gutlessly cashed out for a profit which frankly looked unlikely most of this Test.

This guarantees the heavens will open and there won’t be another ball bowled.

Cashing out? It’ll be each way betting next.

There must be some rain around because there are more than enough overs for either seven wickets or 146 runs, even at a fairly pedestrian rate yet the draw is 13/8.

Regarding the draw/tie, a draw can only occur when time has run out. A tie is a completed match in the same way as a win for either side is. I don’t know why they don’t just offer tie odds. There have been two in about 2,500 tests so it doesn’t take a genius to work the odds out.

Chezza bowls a pie and Gladders sweeps it effortlessly to the boundary.

If it doesn’t rain and there’s a result, Chezza is a right judge – but if it’s now a Draw Chezza is a gutless coward, pathetically clutching a fraction of the profit Chezza might have made.

Duly wound up by the flak, Chezza’s gone back in on The Draw and now wins four times as much on that than the other two outcomes.

But, err, still about a third of what Chezza would have won if Chezza had let the original Draw bet ride.

Feel free to call Chezza “ChezzMikea” (rhymes with Formica) for the rest of the day.

Won’t stop the bookies from offering the tie at 100-1.

Chezza had better get paid if it is!

Chezza suspects Betfair Exchange would settle a tie as an England/Australia dead-heat and NOT a Draw.

Australia are 2-1 in the series a tie makes the score 2-1 to Australia still so a draw in my book in fact the ultimate draw.
You won’t get a draw more drawn but I expect you are right.
