Anyone remember a hurdler named Floyd? He was a chestnut. Although he was just a short of being a crackerjack hurdler, the horse was as gutsy as they come with the heart of a lion.
December 17, 2023 at 16:53 #1674225Yep. Remember Floyd well: trained by David Elsworth, had a big white blaze, made the running, won a Bula Hurdle.

December 17, 2023 at 21:40 #1674247Very talented and versatile horse that suffered from being in the Elsworth stable during the Dessie years.
He did the Imperial Cup/County Hurdle in 1985, along with winning a Bula Hurdle, two Fighting Fifth Hurdles, two Kingwell Hurdles, the 1990 Long Walk Hurdle (the first time it was run as a G1) and the G2 Rendlesham Hurdle in 1991.
He just fell short of the very top level but he did finish 4th to Beech Road in the 1989 Champion Hurdle and was twice placed (both behind Kribensis) in G1 Christmas Hurdle, oh and he also won 3 times on the flat as well.
