Ben, Nathan – I am so glad you have mentioned about the huge number of profiles saying the poster has been here for 23 years!
I first signed up a mere 7 years ago, so a similar time to Ben. Initially it was a bit offputting that there seemed to be so many long-term members who all seemingly joined at the same time! I thought I might be intruding on all these people who had been conversing for years lol.
May 12, 2023 at 01:10 #1647467Teletext Nathan! Now there’s a blast from the past, for some reason I do miss the days of being sat on the sofa waiting 20 minutes for it to flick to the sports page I’d been waiting for so I could find out a certain rugby or football result lol.
Ah TAPK, I used to love his confidence, My Tent Or Yours, Taquin du Seuil and Boston Bob being three of his tips that I remember fondly, despite only one of them winning, Boston Bob was surely unlucky and My Tent or Yours just happened come up against the Mullins/Rich combination at the start of its empire! Ginger was another one of those who’d post her frequently when I first joined and I used to love reading his debates.
Marlingford I’m glad you didn’t let that put you off! I get what you mean though, almost feels like you’re walking into a party at 2am sober while everyone else is well and truly plastered, you just have to dive straight in if you’re going to make a night of it!
May 12, 2023 at 07:14 #1647480Pleased to hear others have noticed the “23 years” thing! There was another poster who posted something like their second post recently and it said they had been registered for 23 years.
I remember that racing discussion forum on Teletext. There were some amusing comments there. I recall there was a highly touted Godolphin horse which got beaten somewhere and one of the posters said he could have beaten it himself riding a rusty bike.
May 12, 2023 at 08:22 #1647483Someone on Teletext use to put up the shortest price horse everyday. He’d get pages of praise when they’d win..

May 12, 2023 at 09:14 #1647490The only things to get me through the long dark days of summer until we get to the proper racing in winter are the long distance handicaps on the flat or the occasional half decent jump meeting at the raspberry/Stratford or uttoxeter.
I’ll probably play Zoffee in an each way double with something at market rasen.
But the sooner this borefest of flat racing is over the better for me!
May 12, 2023 at 09:48 #1647496Think of all the Flat meetings as Jump cards with low Sun, TC, and you’ll be fine.

I noticed last night at the evening Irish jump meeting the last race on the card looked like it was going to be affected by omitted hurdles.
The starter had a look at the hurdle down near his rostrum and told them to get on with it!
Warmed the cockles of my heart to see! Too often with these decisions it’s the tail wagging the dog it seems to me!
May 12, 2023 at 10:09 #1647502I saw they were thinking of omitting the hurdle in the home strait ar Clonmel before the 7.18 race. Favourite backers must have wished they had when the well backed Charles Byrnes trained favourite promptly went and fell at it.

Best of luck to all
May 12, 2023 at 15:01 #1647522Anyone know if 365’s BOG still applies from 48 hour decs to time of the race OR
Have they changed it to “from morning of the race”?
CheersMay 12, 2023 at 15:05 #1647523It’s morning of the race now Wilts.
I think that Boylesports, 888, Ladbrokes and Coral on certain occasions still do it the night before. I might be wrong and it wouldn’t be the first time, but Ive read somewhere recently that they’ve all stopped doing it for 48 hours before the race, and that this has been in place for some time now.
May 12, 2023 at 15:07 #1647524Euchrn glen @28s, hates chester, backed him everytime for this, cant desert
May 12, 2023 at 15:07 #1647525I almost didn’t bother with this, as it always looked unlikely that Mountain Road wouldn’t get there, and he was balloted out in the end. I’ve decided to have a small bet on Zoffee though at 12-1
May 12, 2023 at 15:10 #1647526Metier for the win with conditions to suit, and Law of the Sea ew (no reason on form why he should have a chance but I’m interested to see what this trainer can do with him in staying handicaps).
May 12, 2023 at 15:10 #1647527Cheers Kris. Cant remember 365 pinging an email about the change, but just found a notification on the net.
Shame, as i often like to place bets the eve before, esp for Saturdays and the big meetings.May 12, 2023 at 15:13 #1647528FYI, I had already messaged Xabisfeet with the answer to his question.
