American Trilogy appeals.
Gambling Only Pays When You're Winning
November 14, 2008 at 02:03 #189637Like the look of Church Island tomorrow. C&D winner who likes the soft, pleasing spin on the flat recently to "blow away the cobwebs", and a working mans price at 14’s.
November 14, 2008 at 02:12 #189640Hi all.
The three conditions races have some interesting runners but betting wise no thanks.
A Patent on these will be the order of the day for me.
In the first it looks like Tony Martin has found one of his plots again and with Nina on board Aggie’s Lad will do for me.
Enda Bolger will more than likely walk of with the Cross Country but i am going to row in with Petite Margot here.
Finally the Conditionals Hurdle will hopefully see Maraafeq waltzing up the hill for the Williams/Coleman duo.
Good luck to everyone.
Adrian.
November 14, 2008 at 02:13 #189641Cheltenham and National Hunt racing are the only reasons I stay in this country!
Cheltenham will as usual provide lots of clues for the future and I won’t miss it for that reason but I won’t be betting tomorrow.Too tough for me.November 14, 2008 at 02:23 #189642back in the 50’s I was brought up in the game by an old fashioned bookmaker, ( stand anything it cant win).
his philosyphy, wait for the big meetings and play bigger cos mugs love to bet when its hardest to win.
he died recently, a very rich man.
November 14, 2008 at 02:28 #189643In the same boat as a dead tinker then, Barry?
November 14, 2008 at 02:55 #189654Tomorrow’s card looks far from "top quality" or "fantastic" to me.
A cross-country chase, two extremely moderate big-field handicaps and three conditions races with single-figure fields hardly quicken the pulse.
Agree- which is why AP is up in Newcastle riding 4 for Howard Johnson.

.More than a grain of truth there. Treat them as you would any other meeting betting-wise, but relish the spectacle for what it is: Prestbury Park
Tomorrow’s card there doesn’t appeal one jot as a betting medium but a couple at Newcastle do. I’ll be glued to RUK nonetheless
‘Serious’ punter – tedious furker
November 14, 2008 at 04:34 #189665Not looked at the decs yet but here we go, 7 months or so of the best racing in the world.
National Hunt racing, nothing else comes close.
I’m with you on that one Neil and I am another of these sad people who like the cross country races. Got the day off work to watch it on the telly otherwise might just have waited until Saturday.
Have always wondered how some of the top class eventers would have got on. Having seen Tamarillo romp round Burghley in the mud this year might not be without a chance in my opinion.
Point to pointing starts a fortnight on Sunday as well, bring it on.

Makes three of us! I’ll be somewhere on the infield for this contest tomorrow, as sure as my botty points downwards. I’ll probably plump for somewhere near to the new "cheese wedges" obstacle, to see how they all cope with it.

As part of the Auntie Beeb’s Grand National coverage one year over 20 years ago, the Aintree executive let a few eventing riders and horses have a hack round one circuit of the Grand National course. Sadly, however, Rodney Powell’s stalwart Pommeroy had a fatal heart attack after completing, and the exercise was not repeated.

Ho yus! I’ve done Cottenham often enough in the last two years, so I’m already making plans to go to Black Forest Lodge on the 30th instead. Just the nine-hour round trip from Hertfordshire, but hey.

Paul Nicholls was apparently raving about American Trilogy before his debut at Aintree, but I have to say that I wasn’t all that impressed. The experience won’t have been lost on him, but given his ability on the flat (and the fact that Nicholls usually has his horses pretty straight for their reappearances) I would have expected a more authoritative victory over an animal like Hernando Royal. Over Sixty interests me far more, having won in decisive fashion on her return. She gets a useful allowance, is trained by the ever-efficient Alan King and could turn out to be quite smart.
The other races on the card are all much of a muchness, until the novices’ chase at 4.05. Again, I wasn’t bowled over by Herecomesthetruth at Chepstow and as such am quite looking forward to seeing if Dream Garden can improve on his taking Uttoxeter success.
November 14, 2008 at 14:19 #189689I think Garde Champetre at 9/4 is massive value. High class animal at best who has found his niche in these races.
Herecomesthetruth in the last is the second bet of the day. The trip on the testing ground should suit and the form at Chepstow has been backed up by Crescent Island coming out and winning since.
Those whilst not being fancy prices are two good things today.

Gamekeepers. They all think their clever cause ".I’ve got more money than
you!"
They should all spend their millions learning how to spell and speak
before mouthing off how clever they are.
