Hunters’ Chase night ought to be wonderfully tranquil, but the last time Chezza attended said fixture the racecourse combined the meeting with a DJ after racing to attract the Cheltenham Friday nightlife crowd.
It was Chezza’s first – and last! – encounter with the sockless Peaky Blinders wannabe brigade.
Never again!

Twice round the floor, then outside for your oats.

March 26, 2023 at 18:45 #1641599What a horrible thing to say about a person!
Funny, though – Chezza’s nicking that one.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"April 19, 2023 at 23:33 #1644632Can someone please confirm – are tickets for the April Meeting (ie Wed/Thurs 19/20 April) just £15 pp for entry to the Club and Tatts enclosure?
Has anyone been to the meeting this year and how busy is it? Looks quite empty on the telly.
If so, that sounds like a bargain and I may well plan to go to the equivalent meeting next season. Thanks.
April 19, 2023 at 23:57 #1644637I’m not sure if you like to bet QF but if you do then those tickets can be free with racing rewards
Charles Darwin to conquer the World
April 20, 2023 at 07:35 #1644650I was there yesterday QF. I confirm it was a fairly small crowd, it seemed even smaller than last year. There were problems with the trains in and out of Cheltenham yesterday which might have been a factor.
I was there on a free ticket via the RTV subscription so I am not sure about the ticket prices. Maybe the website has more information?
I certainly recommend a visit to this meeting. It does not have the same quality on the track as the festival but it is an altogether better experience. It is easy to get around and there are no queues for anything.
April 20, 2023 at 09:36 #1644654The only problem with R4R is it can’t be used to pay for travel costs to and from the races and these are an increasingly-significant component of the cost of the day.

That sounds terrific. I enjoyed watching the competitive racing yesterday (Wednesday) on the Sporting Life results page, and will look to see if I can get to Cheltenham for the first time for that date next year.
I’d much rather go on a quiet day which would mean I can see everything so much better and experience viewing from as many places as possible. And I’d be sure that everyone else there was a genuine enthusiast, which is appealing. Cheers.
April 20, 2023 at 12:07 #1644661I’ve never been to the April meeting- might have to try that one soon. My favourite day to go to Cheltenham was always Trials Day at January- top class racing, without the crowds- but that seems to have got far busier over the last few years.
April 20, 2023 at 13:15 #1644670I would quite like to go to the Hunters Chase meeting(well if it wasn’t 400 miles away).
It looks like a fun, informal night out and it’s the only chance to see a four miler at the course.
Bring back the New Year’s Day chase!!

I was thinking the same thing yesterday when Tip Top Cat, my each way bet in the 3m 4f Chase, got going late in the day and closed all the way to the line to finish third. He looked like he needed at least another half a mile!

Last time I went they had hired a DJ for live music after racing so it was a curious blend of Pointing fans and the local Cheltenham nightlife crowd.
Never again!

April 20, 2023 at 16:09 #1644703I’m afraid that would have been a losing bet for you, sir.
I escaped immediately after the concluding event!
