I think your way of thinking you might see you end up with out a pot to pee in.

You are writing off the two best horses seen in training for many a year.

As far as Denman being a one season wonder I have news for you. Having run and won only 4 races last season he is already at least a 2 season wonder.

Kauto Star: Some advise for you.Don’t overdo it on Xmas Day with the turkey or you won’t have enough room to eat your words on Boxing Day :)

According to Paul Nicholls, Denman is better than ever and will probably make his seasonal bow in the AON Chase.

If fit and healthy, the rest may as well stay in their boxes come Gold Cup day.

He also said he is absolutely delighted with Kauto Star he’s either very easy pleased or we could have a good rematch on the cards.

I take everything he says with a pinch of salt as he’s become a bit of a crowd pleaser.

Kauto will tell us himself if he is going to be a threat on Boxing Day

Denman is going hurdling next week. Whether he wins or not, we can see how he is looking. Kauto should win on friday.
Nicholls isnt going to give anything away is he :(

Think the hurdle entry is very tentative though they say we will know for sure tomorrow. Wouldn’t have thought 3m over hurdles round Wincanton was what he wanted. Apart from the fact its fairly tight, its also the wrong way round and the said he wouldn’t go right handed. Not seen list but would also imagine he’d have top weight and while he is big enough and has proved before he can carry top weight and win, its the kind of race where something might be lurking and you might not want him in a battle at this stage of the season. There is also the question of who will ride him. Nicholls has runners at Kempton and Leopardstown so sure Thomas and Walsh would be at them which maybe leaves a claimer to take weight off, but not ideal or maybe Christian Williams seeing as he’s rode him before.

I would hate to think he runs and get beat so I hope he scares any decent rivals away and wins as he likes,,,,,,,,,,,simply don’t want to see 1111/11110

I hope they know what they are doing……seems a very odd decision to me,

Peter Marsh then Aon would be my call but he’s apparently got others for the Haydock race (Big Bucks etc)

Well they said it was just a tentative entry, I think to take a bit of the attention away from Kauto and they never had any intention of running him and though we will never know, it looks like that. I mean there are other hurdle races around the country in the next 2 or 3 weeks that would have suited him better so why put him in one at a track that he blatantly wouldn’t have been suited to then say his next race will be The Aon after all.

Having just finished a celebratory bottle of "RD" to myself and having watched the re-run of the King George for the 5th time, i am sure
"Albertas Run" is closing the gap between himself and "Kauto" every time i watch it! The real "Albertas" turned up today on a track that doesn"t suit
over his minimum trip, come Cheltenham in March over a trip much more to his liking around his favourite course on good ground he will be a threat
    to all!

It will be interesting to see what tactics Sam Thomas employs on Denman in the Gold Cup.

We all know he’ll go from the front, but the pace he sets will be crucial.

Kauto Star never travelled last year and his jumping was very lethargic, yet he still managed to get within 7L of Denman and it would’ve been closer had he jumped the last better.

Denman had everything fall for him on that occasion, but he was absolutely legless at the end.

If you’re Sam Thomas, would you set a similar pace? He could run the finish out of KS, but if the latter travels and jumps, Denman will be there for the taking up the hill.

Conversely, if he goes a stride slower it will suit Kauto Star’s main attribute – his turn of foot.

Sam Thomas will be under extreme pressure on the defending champion too, who is expected by most to rule supreme again. The pressure of expectation has been lifted from Kauto Star and now rests on the shoulder of his neighbour, in my opinion.

    Looking forward to it already…

Sam Thomas, will ride the race exactly the same as last year, "Kauto" will finish a lot closer on better ground, but will never beat a 100% "Denman"
My pal "Albertas" will love the race on good ground and is still the "Dark
horse" of the race and "Exotic dancer" is still more than capable and is 80"s on Betfair at the moment! (wont be after tomorrows lexus)!

I just hope Albertas Run recovers for the race in time. The wind Kauto Star blew up his nostrils might lead to a serious cold – there’s a lot of it going round at present. 8)

I can see it now. Exotic Dancer shaking his head and saying "Now you know what it feels like!"

    Bosranic,
I like a bit of humour in these posts, and you obviously have a touch
of it! but "Albertas run" will stay a lot further than "Kauto star" will,
Cheltenhams stiff 31/4m will see the gap between them narrow far more
than you realise! "Albertas" is still improving and if he gets his ideal good ground he will quieten quite a few on here!

I dare say Albertas Run could outstay Kauto Star – if the trip happened to be 4m through the mud at Chepstow. Unfortunately he hasn’t got a cat in hell’s chance of troubling Nicholls’s Gold Cup trio at Cheltenham.

Albertas Run has an outside chance of a place, in my opinion. He clearly stays well and boasts an unbeaten record over fences at Cheltenam. He won the RSA at The Festival last year, so he obviously operates well at that time of year. No doubt, he has a lot in his favour, but I think there are a few ahead of him at the moment. A lot can happen between now and March, though.

Personally, I love Albertas Run and you’ll struggle to find a better looking horse in-training. Here’s a photo of him in the paddock at last years Festival, just for you. 8)

    Bosranic,
Very kind of you to go to the trouble of creating that Photograph,
its just a shame there"s a bloody great "beaver" in front of the horse!
I have a framed Photo of "Albertas" jumping the last at Ascot giving weight
and a comfortable beating to the 8/1 3rd fav of the King george!! Thank goodness Bookmakers have short memories! 50/1 for the King george was
    was very generous!

He is now 17.5 for the Gold cup!! 3.5 for the Ryanair!! he would be a certainty for that race!
