Glad he,s beating them on the bit , he won the CH in 2nd gear , they didnt , he can’t help what’s behind him , what previous champion hurdle horses do you think would beat him ?

The three I’ve just named, for a start.

Again- I’m not saying that he couldn’t beat them, as we simply don’t know how much is left under the bonnet; I’m saying that the form he has shown so far cannot be rated above those greats from the Golden Age of hurdling.

As with so many things, it’s style over substance in this media-driven age.

It’s a sad situation if a horse can’t be rated on his own ability rather than being judged on the horses in behind. Yes, competition is thin on the ground but he jumps, travels and records times that are unquestionably sensational, all whilst looking as if he could go much, much quicker if he needed to. I don’t really care about the ‘greatest ever’ debate, I’m just enjoying him while I can as it might be a long time before we see anything like him again.

Anyone know of bookies offering markets such as “to win any race” at the 2024 festival? I know that SkyBet are doing it for some request-a-bet selections (of their choice). Can’t use SkyBet myself, so are there any others that offer this?

I never bet c12 months, in advance, but if i was to then the one horse i’d ‘takeout’ from this week and have a bet on for 2024 would be
Teahupoo for the Stayers – currently 12s or thereabouts.

See you in my dreams looked like a horse with a lot of potential when winning her bumper

Nicholls doesn’t seem to get many top mares but she certainly passed the eye test and could be interesting for the mares novice

She’s had 2 runs winning a point to point by 15 lengths and her bumper by 11 at a canter

Wonder if Nicholls will run her in the Aintree mares bumper

The talk on the preview shows was that ballyburn is Willie’s best young horse so he could also be interesting for a ballymore or bartlett looking at breeding

Nothing makes much appeal. Impaire Et Passe obviously has star quality – but what route will he go next season?

I did think Love Envoi at 14/1 in the Mares Hurdle makes some appeal with Sky Bet – but will connections put her over fences?

Envoi is that girl who if you get into a fight in the pub pushes you out of the road and nuts the guy for you , she,s absolute teak and 14s is a very fair price

More to the point: what route does Constitution Hill take? If I were lucky enough to own either Impaire Et Passe or Marine Nationale, I’d be aiming for the Champion Hurdle, in case the champ switches to chasing, but schooling over fences in case he doesn’t.

Seldom have the future campaigns of so many good, or even very good, horses been so dependant on where one great horse does, or doesn’t, go.

After all the flak he’s had I wouldn’t blame Henderson for deliberately “thinking out loud” and changing his mind every week just to annoy everyone as much as possible.

I’d continually rule nothing out – Hurdles, Chases, Flat, I’m A Celebrity… – and nothing in.
