    “I want a fiver for it now…”

Chezza saw what you did, there, Hughesey!

320 sounds like an exchange bet?

If so, who lays that ante-post, ties up fortunes for months to win a few quid and more than occasionally ends up losing the lot anyway because they unknowingly laid the bet to a bloke called “Bobby?”

Surely safer to put it in an ISA – you can’t get mullered by vtc that way!

Given how Lossiemouth ran with the choke out, I would be concerned about her staying the extra distance of the Mares Hurdle.

It sounds like Mullins is thinking of the Champion Hurdle for her. He mused about how the 7lb allowance might be useful against Constitution Hill.

I am a fan of Lossiemouth – but the Champion could give her two stone and still beat her.

Love Lossiemouth, brought home the biscuits in style, but don’t think she could beat State Man, never mind Constitution Hill.

Has Mullins said what he,s doing with State Man , if CH stays over hurdles surely it’ll be a tilt at the Arkle

I think he’ll stay over hurdles and hoover up the grade 1s in Ireland.

Do you think he needs a step up ? , I’m interested to see what he does with Sir Gerhard , stayers hurdle ?

Even though I backed Sir Gerhard in the Brown Advisory, I think that was a rare mistake by Mullins.

The horse travelled into the race well enough but he stopped like as if he had hit a brick wall. He trailed home in something like 8th place after looking like he might be involved in the finish. He clearly did not stay and would have been far better off in the Turners.

Not sure what they will do with him now. Connections already have Allaho and Envoi Allen for the Ryanair.

They said after the race he’s future staying chaser. I thought he finished off like a step up would be appreciated.

“Gaelic Warrior took out his earplugs on the way to the start and he didn’t settle as well as we’d want him to, but Patrick said he could go up to three miles. He’ll be a big, strong chaser down the line – Willie Mullins, trainer.”

At 25/1 he’s interesting for all i’d really like to see him jump first, but these days he’ll be 6/1 if he wins his beginners lol

You campaign a horse over 2m all season then….run him in the 2m5f Ballymore.

And then after the race say what he really needs is 3m.

    Okay….

Sir Gerard can’t jump , no point going on with fences , unless they want to carry top in a hcap then stayers like the way forward , he stayed fine in a bad ground ballymore , its maybe he,s peaked …

I’d give Lossiemouth every chance against State Man, especially in receipt of the mares’ allowance.

She could start today and not beat the champ, though.

Glad I think you’re doing State Man a disservice- he’d win the majority of champion hurdles. We know how the juveniles go in open company….

Jack- I’ve posted before about how I think he’s overrated.

This “he’d win most Champion Hurdles” line I keep hearing is nonsense- in my opinion, of course. It was just something drummed up by the media to try to generate interest in the Champion Hurdle.

Only one horse has ever beaten state man glad, its a massive disservice to him, had CH not existed, he’d be a 5 time grade 1 winner from 7 starts, unbeaten when standing up, only losing out to the highest rated hurdler ever?

As with every single year, lossiemouth and the triumph winners will do virtually nothing next season and there isnt a prayer she will be aimed for the CH anyway, its a dead duck of a conversation, rated 142, shed need state man to run 15-20lbs below his best including the weight allowance to have any hope, shes no AP

What evidence do you have on the formline to suggest hes overrated, im curious?

Your a big CH fan, Does that mean his form has taken a serious knock since he and zanahiyr were 2nd and 3rd? CH’s rating to my eyes, is what it will be, because state man finished 2nd, had SM not been in the race, youd have had a horse whos been beaten out of sight for nearly 2 seasons in 2nd…

“What evidence do you have on the formline to suggest hes overrated, im curious?”

Name me one top class horse he’s beaten. Plains Indian? First Street? Flame Bearer? Sharjah? Of his victims, only Honeysuckle can be considered anywhere near top class in historical terms and a)she isn’t as good this year and b)the form book shows that she is primed for Cheltenham every year.

When Honeysuckle was defeating all comers, we kept hearing how bad the current crop of two mile hurdlers is; I’m not denying that State Man is a good horse, but he’s merely the best of a bad bunch.

Constitution Hill stands alone among the current crop, as he has been demolishing them all without even getting out of second gear. But even he hasn’t shown that he deserves to be rated above Night Nurse, Monksfield, Sea Pigeon et al… yet.
