Sorry, but that wasn’t it. Don’t want to turn this into a music show but the piece I was referring to sounded like a very much softer, slowed down version of the second half of this:-
March 17, 2008 at 19:56 #152114Two tunes very commonly used by Channel 4 are:
Moby Everlong – Its association with fims and horseracing is through the film "Sea Biscuit" as it is the tune used when seas biscuit does his first romp.

Thirteen Senses – Into the fire – they always play this tune in the background on channel 4 racing

Sigur Ros – Hoppilpolla – Another which Im sure I have also heard played on channel four, although it comes up a lot in sports music overs, it is a brilliant tune.

Think I may have heard Arcade Fire – Wake Up on there too.

Don’t think this is correct link …
March 17, 2008 at 20:20 #152116Sorry, put in wrong link…
March 17, 2008 at 20:31 #152119They also play "The Staunton Lick" by Lemon Jelly as background music a lot.
March 17, 2008 at 21:10 #152128ironic really that ch4 use the moby track on the race parade, he being a big ambassador for PETA.
March 17, 2008 at 22:48 #152148the Moby music makes me sad because it always associate it with Gloria Victis….must admit [but don’t tell anyone] to liking the Christine Aguillera [?] song that they use sometimes
March 18, 2008 at 08:55 #152186I know that the Order of Merit music played on-course is "Saltwater" by Chicane ft Maire Brennan – I texted it to Five Live after they’d professed ignorance of the track, but I don’t know if it got read on air (I’d got out of the car and squelched onto Hexham’s hallowed turf by then).

March 18, 2008 at 09:34 #152193Thanks to all those have suggested tracks but it isn’t any of those – it is a slow instrumental piece. I suppose all I can do is confirm if it is featured again. At least it gave me a excuse to listen to some ‘new’ music.
March 18, 2008 at 09:58 #152195What is the starting music played in the intro, does anyone know that one? ? ?
Thanks.
March 18, 2008 at 10:28 #152199I know what you mean Stilvi, don’t know who it was but it was a slow acoustic piece, Ronnie Wood-esque.
Hope they keep the Chicane song for the OoM races for many years to come because it really adds to the atmosphere/anticipation before the big races.
Typically it isn’t played at Ascot!
August 2, 2012 at 11:24 #408685Very late reply to this thread. However, I know the very music you mean, it’s the intro to ‘You’ve Got Me Thinking’ by The Beloved, looped over and over again. It’s on their album Conscience and also on their Single File album. Sadly Channel 4 Racing don’t use it any more. Nice track.
