So you received confirmation today that Binocular went over to Ireland for one of his little ‘holidays’?
March 9, 2012 at 15:56 #395553Must admit im a Binocular fan too, always had a soft spot for the horse and im really hoping he attends in good order coz it could be a hell of a race with HF if he is in tip top order. I personally am disregarding the race that Binocular had with HF in Ireland last backend as iMHO it was a farce of a race……..no doubting that HF is a very good horse tho.

An incredible horse who does have that perfomance in him and anyone thinks that its certain Binocular wont do it is foolish. He is capable of putting in a performance so devestating that not even a peak Hurricane Fly can deal with it. I happen to think that performance is coming this tuesday.
All time greatest Champion Hurdler? That’s a big statement! The Fly can deal with him no problem

Value Is EverythingMarch 9, 2012 at 18:47 #395577I’m utterly astonished that anybody thinks Binocular can even get Hurricane Fly of the bit, never mind beat him?
I’ll be amazed if he makes the frame.

Hurricane Fly will probably tread on a stone in morning exercise.

If it were any other race EF, you might be right.

It’s not that surprising CS.
Binny was just as impressive in winning his Champion Hurdle as Hurricane Fly was. Form of the latter might be a little bit better, but not much.Since their victories fortunes have been very different. Binny hasn’t been the same horse. The two certainly can’t be judged on their last meeting.
Manner (if not form) of Binny’s win last time out suggests he’s in beter form now. A wind oporation prior to Wincanton might have made the difference.
Hurricane Fly is a worthy favourite, but it is within the realms of possibility Binny could give him a fright.

Still think HF hurt himself the last time. Clipped a hurdle going down the back, tail swished and lost his action for a few strides. And watching the finish the horse goes disunited. If HF is fit he will destroy this field but EW rock on ruby will be my bet. Know the horse is doing handsprings and Noel fehily will not harm his chances. Gwan Ruby!!! Horse that is.
March 10, 2012 at 21:14 #395754Does anyone know whether Thousand Stars or Zaidpour are running? They’re both classy horses but still at long odds for both the World Hurdle and this.
March 10, 2012 at 22:17 #395762Zaidpour’s been jocked up with Paul Townend. Thousand Stars hasn’t been jocked up yet, which is a little strange. Mullins has obviously made his declarations for tomorrow and named the jockeys, so why wouldn’t he name the jockey for Thousand Stars until later on tonight or tomorrow morning?
My bet is he runs in the World Hurdle or misses the Festival altogether, as Mullins says his main target is the Aintree Hurdle.
March 11, 2012 at 07:31 #395793Zaidpour is 100/1 + for both the Champion and World Hurdles on the machine so I think he won’t be on the ferry unless something happens to Hurricane Fly. I can’t see any jockey booking for him or Thousand Stars on the RP website.
Having said that maybe it is worth backing Zaidpour NRNB as the only circumstance when he might turn up is if Hurricane Fly doesn’t, in which case he would be worth a gamble at longish odds.

Wrong again!
Good decision from Mullins. Thousand Stars probably doesn’t have the pace for a good ground Champion.

His run at Christmas proved he lacks the tactical speed required for a top class 2 mile hurdle, regardless of the going. He can set a strong gallop against lesser horses chancing their arm in grade one company but he will always be vulnerable to the best horses over the minimum trip.
March 11, 2012 at 12:13 #395831I’d be wary about judging him on Leopardstown form. Doesn’t seem the same horse there.
Shark Hanlon’s mole in the Mullins yard says he’s gone sour in recent weeks. Mullins also said at the Leopardstown preview on Wednesday that he doesn’t want him having a hard race because the Aintree Hurdle is his main target, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him skip the Festival full stop.
March 11, 2012 at 17:43 #395884Well, to my surprise, Zaidpour is entered and is now 33/1 in places or a bit more on the machine. His official rating is 11 lb below the favourite, similar to Oscars Well, Rock on Ruby, Zarkander, Celestial Halo, Brampour and Overturn. Possibly he is still on the upgrade so I think maybe 20-1 would be more appropriate.
