The first one to jump out at me is Samui. Been following him over hurdles and really like him, but no option to wait and see how he gets on at York first. I’ll obviously miss the odds if he goes well, but that’s the way it goes.
On the verge of betting two though, fellow Irish Raiders, Zanndabad, and Falcon Eight
Zanndabad was very unlucky at Chester, and I think this is ideal. Falcon Eight hasn’t went a yard this year, but not buying a bit of that. It was a similar story the last two years, before he recaptured his form in the Irish equivalent. That presents my main concern here, as he holds an entry for that race again (as does Zanndabad). I should leave him alone with the Curragh entry, but the 66’s is proving hard to resist, and I have to have an early go
Of the home raiders, I wouldn’t be quick to rule out the Goldie pair, Baez, and Letsbefrank, but at 40’s, I really like Shagpyle.
Falcon Eight is probably one to wait on, but I’ve had a small interest for now in the knowledge that he’s more likely to go The Curragh

He’s in terrific form at the moment.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...October 8, 2024 at 16:02 #1709343Bit of a shock to see Falcon Eight still in there, but still sceptical about him turning up. If he made the trip, I’d definitely have more on him to max EW Places
It would be a pleasant surprise if he did, but I’m more looking at the backups now, and Samui and Shagpyle still high on the shortlist.
Host of other Irish contenders to be interested in, including The Shunter, Dawn Rising, Magellan Strait, Anna Bunina, and particularly Run For Oscar. Rossa Ryan booked, and even though a lot more weight to carry than two years back, I think he’ll be a lot shorter than 16’s Saturday
Last but not least is Bashful Boy. Placed last year, couple of pounds lower now, and though recent form nothing to write home about, he definitely makes the shortlist at 66’s.

October 11, 2024 at 17:44 #1709528With Falcon Eight running Sunday now, went with Samui and Shagpyle. Taken the 25’s Samui while it’s still available, and not bet Shagpyle yet, as could probably name my own price tomorrow.
Really like Dawn Rising a lot, and he seems more sensible, certainly than Shagpyle, but I’ll have the other pair.
No surprise to see Bashful Boy and Run For Oscar outrun their odds
