I’d have an ew on Seaside Sizzler, Sohar and Recession Proof if I let myself, but going to stcik with my 4. i think the ‘won over 2 mile’ stat will come into it’s own today [which none of mine have done]. Such restraint; I’m quite proud of myself!

I’m impressed Moehat, finally one of us has some self control
PS…has anyone else been having problems loading this site, it’s slower than some of my nags,
October 12, 2013 at 15:09 #4547002nd and 5th with ‘my 4’ so quite pleased with that. Think Albert Bridge ran well for a long way, too. For a moment I thought Waterclock might get up but it wasn’t to be. Have to be honest and say when I backed him I’d never heard of him before and kind of liked the name. This is obviously the way forward! Oh, and I’ll get my money back on Mamlook [Albert Bridge was his ‘replacement’].

Well done Moehat, two out of four in this race is pretty good.
I’ll settle for Chiberta King, 4th (bet 25s) and for a long way I thought the way Clowance Estate was travelling he looked sure to be in the shake up, he just didn’t get the last couple of furlongs. I’m happy enough to come out with profit, and I’m sure VTC and Bozlike will be the same, giving that is a hard race to fathom…..onwards and upwards for the jumps
October 12, 2013 at 15:29 #454703Feeling a bit better now in that, looking at the winners raceform I would never have backed her in a million years, even if she’d had a good draw. If she’d’ve won over 2 miles I would have been kicking myself. Only box she ticked was a 5th in the Northumberland Plate once.
October 12, 2013 at 17:03 #454711Given the fact that the trainer said he had a troubled run Oriental Fox did very well, especially carying so much weight. Probably the one to take out of the race for next year [although it was such a strange result maybe the whole race is best ignored]

I agree Moe, I’m not sure what I learned from it. Maybe I learned I could pick 33 horses from a 34 race field, and still not pick the winner
It was always going to be a tough ask, it’s a great race but a nightmare trying to suss it out. I think we all did pretty well out of it, ourselves, VTC and Bozlike, so we deserve a communal pat on the backOctober 12, 2013 at 22:37 #454747I backed two first and last ,beat that ! had Scatter Dice in a Lucky 31 with nowt else but a pleasing result nonetheless as i,ve been backing her all season ,didnt think she’d stay but the enforced holdup tactics worked wonders .
October 12, 2013 at 22:54 #454749What makes me mad is that if you go back to his early race record, Scatter Dice’s form was very good, then factor in Johnson’s record with stayers – and I think he’s had 2 or 3 winners in this race in the past!
October 12, 2013 at 23:30 #454752If only -If only- If only…
The mantra of a typical punter
October 13, 2013 at 10:43 #454784Someone on another forum pointed out she was back to her last winning mark; one of 6 such horses in the race that were on that mark or close to it. Jockey was obviously told to try to hold her back a bit at the start
and won easily. Damn.

If only it were that simple Grimes.
She
had never won beyond a mile and a half before and had not won for 15 months. As Moehat said, she was only one pound higher than her last winning mark but that was largely due to a sequence of twenty runs without winning. She ran not too bad the time before but the race previous to that, where she tackled a distance a little shorter than the Ces (on soft) she was tailed off last beaten over 100 lengths. Mark Johnston had two others in the race, one of whom was much more fancied but I gave up a long time ago trying to suss when his runners would have a good day or a terrible day.
A result to gast your flabber if ever there was one.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
October 14, 2013 at 15:41 #454919She ran a decent race in the Northumberland Plate; it looked much better when I watched it on ATR ysterday than the write up made out. Having said that, I can’t quite get my head round how well she won on Saturday. Was it the first time she hadn’t raced prominently? Looking at the last race she won Simon Holt described her as a ‘little terrier of a horse’. Maybe the way the race panned out [with her being left behind at the start] just brought out her best qualities? As you can see, the race is bugging me!
. Bits of the jigsaw don’t quite fit.
