A brilliant horse, according to Timeform he was the equal of such as Nijinsky, Daylami, Cigar and Alleged, Celtic Swing is reported to have died following a bout of colitis at stud in Italy.

I wish he’d run at Epsom in the Derby, rather than the French, but I have the fondest memories of his Racing Post Trophy win (twelve length margin).

The passing of a true legend. His three year old career may have been blotched with controversy, but nothing can take away from the memory of his two year old triumphs, not just that astounding 12 lengths Racing Post Trophy win, but his imperious trouncing of the young Singspiel in the Hyperion Stakes at Ascot.

For me, the "sad, mad, bad" decision not to run him in the Derby was, with hindsight, absolutely the correct decision. He scraped home all out in the French version, thus finally winning the Classic his two year old brilliance deserved. That hard race (as the Irish Derby proved) finished him as a racehorse, and a horse with his stride and rhythm would never have been suited by Epsom in a month of Sundays.

Arazi eat your heart out. Whatever the ratings say, Celtic Swing was surely the most visually impressive two year old in the last quarter century at least.
