My Old Pal Tac De Boistron runs in the 3.45 at Longchamp today. Beaten when I thought he was a shoo-in at Chester, he is about evens for the race in France and you would think he’ll take the beating.

I thought he finished a bit weakly at Chester though and noted that the stable had slipped a bit out of sorts.

After an excellent April with 11 winners and an almost 24% strike rate, they have slipped to about 4%, with just 2 of the last 56 winning and I think the 6th of May was their last winner. That’s pretty stinky form and I would be concerned about lumping the Euros on.

French Racing Expert on ATR Liz Price recommends the second favourite each way for the race. He is about 5/2 for the race, good old Liz giving the value again there ;-)

Is it good news for Solow fans that Liz gives the nod to Cirrus Des Aigles?

    Beam me up Botti :bye:

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

You make a good point about Botti’s form being poor at the moment Steve. Forty-something runs without a win. Although I’ve found older horses like Tac less susepible to poor runs than two, three and four year olds. Is it because they’ve already had the virus in the past and therefore immune to it? That said, I also backed TDB at Chester and agree, form of the yard puts me off backing even short priced older horses like him.

Each Way at 5/2? Absolutely cracking bet! I better get down the bookies and lump on! I can not believe people get paid for advice like that.

You’ve got the two quotes muddled Dex. It was Steve who said about 5/2 each way.
Actually, I’ve bet EW at that price myself now and again. Where I believe the second fav @ 5/2 has a good chance of beating the odds-on fav and if failing also looks nailed on to be placed. Getting back 62.5% of my over all stake makes it a “good value bet”. However, it is best to do this kind of bet late, non-runners can scupper the value.

Tac De Boistron didn’t run in the end and in his absence Liz landed her each-way tip at 13/8f, 1/4 the odds the place. Sadly her other two selections lost, so it’s vin ordinaire, rather than Chateau Mouton Rothschild this evening.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
