    Tenzing.
    Win
31 lengths behind facile Vega last time out.
Stable mate set fair for champion bumper, but this looked a schooling ride for the second string.
Certainly ran prominently for a long way but very clear which horse was primed to win on that occasion.
Willie Mullins runs two here again.
With normal progression could well take a hand here dropping in grade. This still looks a competitive race and I would be looking to oppose this runner in another scenario. But given the strength of the yard it is worth siding with the Mullins horse, having run so well last time.

    DOWN ROYAL

    TENZING
    Win
Ran very well in snatches behind stablemate last time and could be anything.
    AMAZING AMY
    Each way
A long way behind two decent runners from Mullins and Elliott. Older filly who gets all the weight here. Chance of filling a place.

    Murcurery
This exceptionally well bred french horse makes a much anticipated debut for Willie Mullins at the big meeting in Ireland tomorrow. It has been let out of the yard via the very rich owner that this horse is exciting the yard and “Patrick likes this one”.
Might not add up to much and I’d like to see this one run, but there is absolutely no sense in backing anything other than the winning distance!
It’ll certainly have to go some to take on American Mike.
One thing that can be done though is an ante post ticket on the horse for the champion bumper @ 16/1 upwards and then reconsider one’s position after the race.
MURCURERY winning distance tomorrow more than six lengths….

    Won easily.
More importantly paid out at odds of 2/1 for wide margin win when an odds on shot 30/100.
Now down to 7/1 for the champion bumper from my antepost of 16/1 in a day. Hard to assess as did not beat much but happy with that and another bumper winner.
I don’t think any rivals are worrying just yet….

Hard to call this highly competitive race but Irish raider

    NOS NA GAOITHE
Has won one, and was hampered in a listed contest in Ireland last time but came fifth.
Will have to go some here and is not one of the yards leading lights.
Looks very much a fact finding mission to look over the English runners.
Nonetheless is taken to get into the places.
    NOS NA GAOITHE

    Santonito
    Win
Should have few problems here franking the form of his first run against the nice guy if all goes to plan. Following that run he has been touched off a nose to Embassy Gardens.
    ——————————————–
Willie Mullins has now measured the performances of three of his bumper winners against this unlucky horse Santonito.
Somehow I misread the racecard and put this one down as a Mullins runner.( Costly mistake).

Been a little wide off the mark in recent races and a bad judgement of error on Sunday dented the confidence.
Back on the horse today having left the bumpers for a day.
Copper Nation and Derrylinda were mugged yesterday literally by my namesake Ewing and Gordon Elliott.
Gordon ran four runners on Jan 9th in a maiden hurdle, in a race where my other thread located the winner Elliot’s ASH TREE MEADOW The last of the four copped a massive 42 day ban for schooling the other two were overlooked and Rock on Cassie duly bolted up fast and late yesterday. Gordon happily took the ban on the cheek and quietly waited for yesterday….. There are of course two more runners to look forward to then, one in about a month or so the other maybe sooner.
What that does though is highlight the chances of Willie Mullins horse in today’s bumper.
    SAYLAVEE
He ran a good second to Copper Nation in a bumper and has since transferred to the master trainer.
Mullins says about his new runner,
“Saylavee (Patrick) has her first run for us in the Auction Bumper. We haven’t had her very long but she has been pleasing us at home. She is very well suited by these race conditions and we are expecting her to keep up the good recent run of our bumper horses.”

    Richard Fahey’s
Ri Na Farraige won easily at Newcastle last time and has to overcome a penalty today to repeat the feat.
He reopposes a close rival today who gets the weight pull, but the race last time was a one furlong sprint and if he goes earlier should win easily. These bumpers are like pony trotting races in France and make for poor watching, but occasionally one horse can make all and put the race to bed immediately.
Rebbeca Menzies runs a few here and could easily land some each way money with one of them if in the right mood.

Wincanton hosts a bumper in the final race and there are a few nice ones lining up.
They include a half sister to Monkfish for Nicky Henderson FISHSTREET and some well bred flat types.
My dart has fallen on unbeaten pointer
    DOLLAR BAE.
    WIN
Local Trainer Jonjo O’Neil and Jonjo junior make the tiny hop to the course from Jackdaw’s Castle for the one runner today.
He won his maiden point to point by over a distance and the form has been franked with the third coming out and winning a bumper next time. The runner up cricquitte won the next point to point too.

He’ll need to settle to see out this much sharper trip but with the stable able to produce newcomers to win bumpers, he will have every chance of doing so.
It is always difficult to second guess stables in these affairs. Dollar Bae could be earmarked for chasing and just having a runout here, so stakes are kept low and performances noted for the future.
    ————————————–+——-
Dollar Bae an impressive winner on debutfor Jonjo O’Neil at 7/2

Today’s big bumper comes over in Ireland where Cheltenhams champion bumper jigsaw may have another piece inserted.
Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott are always the first place to look and about his two runners Mullins say’s..
“We have two in the Grade 2 Winners Bumper. Embassy Gardens (Jody Townend) wasn’t impressive when winning a bumper over 2m 4f here at Christmas. Coming back half a mile here might be a help but in any case will know a lot more about him after today. Facile Vega (Patrick) won easily over this course and distance on his debut at Christmas and the second won next time out so the form looks good. He has impressed us on the track and at home. We will find out here if he can go up another grade. We think he can.”
    ———————————————
Anglers Crag was down the field in last year’s race which has provided a nice priced winner this week.
Mullins has won this race three times in the last four runnings.
Facile Vega looks hard to oppose and the value may lay in finding who follows that runner home and the winning distance

I could find nothing of any note to follow facile Vega home and was happy to back him alone on another great day for Willie Mullins.
Cracking stuff which changes the champion bumper picture again.

    HARMONYA MAKER
    Win
For Gordon Elliott is the choice.
I’ve never seen six runners from the same yard in a bumper before and that smacks of despair imo.
Willie Mullins may land the trifecta here but to what avail?
The rains have come and there is a real opportunity to cut loose on Harmonya Maker.
Jessica Harrington has a filly flat bred and in at the deep end. Young but carrying a featherweight and although most unlikely to figure could pop up in fourth at a big price. So dig that one out and pop a pound each way on her if you are so inclined.

What a great race the bumper was yesterday. In the end it boiled down to time off the track.
The longest absentee was the winner at 193 days while nothing running less than 50 days got into the first three. And s.Crawfords runner on Saturday in the bumper potentially holds the key to today’s race.
My selection ran third to Carnfunnock last time out and ran green towards the end but was prominent.
Carnfunnock subsequently ran third to the exceptional Facile Vega at the weekend and that piece of form could prove a big boost to the aspirations of PADDOCK COTTAGE here. We are talking 20 lengths differential but it was the winner Facile Vega going away rather than the runner up who’d be staying on in the face of a hopeless task…if that indirect form computes then Paddock cottage’s stable have a chance here against two other likely sorts notably Maximilian of Donald McCain. Bingoo ran third in a falsely run farce on the all weather at newcastle and the winner was beaten in a repeat race next time. May run well here in a truly run affair. Supreme gift is favourite here and looks a likely danger.

On form there are some clear choices namely presenting Nellie who raced in listed class and has a win under her belt.
But the walk in the park mare
    HORIZON DOVE whose dam
Fairytale theatre was third in a Cheltenham bumper in 2013 can make a winning start in receipt of a handy seven pounds from most and a stone from the top weight.
