    That running of the Classic embodies everything that leaves me particularly cold on US dirt racing – they go off like its a 6F sprint as if the hounds of hell are chasing after them and then by the time they come up the home straight they are wandering around like legless drunks having seven bells beaten out of them.

    Can you imagine the outcry if we had racing like that on this side of the pond – really not an enjoyable sight.

    Could not agree more LD73. I was actually a bit sickened by how badly Thunder Snow was whacked, and he’d given his all. My eyes were drawn to Soumillon beating hell out of him nigh on the whole home straight. I’m sure there were others, but I only had eyes for the Frenchman. He smashed the crap out of Thunder Snow too my eyes. You could hear the whip on the commentary every race. Not great at all that. I know they are soft whips, and I’m not anti whip at all… But jeez he smacked him loads more than I’m used to seeing it looked like on first glance in that last furlong.
