Dear oh dear, cyber handbags at 20 paces.
I sympathise with Cormack as these repetitive paranoia-fuelled spats have become a trifle wearisome.
Shame though, EC was a most interesting poster when on-topic and on-song.

Yes, Id go along witht that and for whatever reason Internet forums can bring out the worst in people. Its just ridiculous.

September 26, 2006 at 08:28 #77704Because of SP’s withdrawal, I did a Greta last night and retired to bed early, thus missing the fuss.:o
Are these bans permanent or sin-bin variety? Agree with Drone and SHL’s comments.
September 26, 2006 at 08:53 #77705What a depressing thread.
September 26, 2006 at 12:27 #77706In a football forum that I am a member of, they have a sin bin system, whereby offenders get 1, 2 or 3 week bans, depending on seriousness of matter. Ultimately an outright ban is then imposed having received 3 bins. As far as I know there has yet to be an outright ban, but plenty of bins. The system works.
Could something like this not be integrated? I dont think this forum can afford to lose posters like EC. He keeps it interesting in what is essentially an uninteresting flat season!
September 26, 2006 at 12:44 #77707Im glad E.C. has got the red card.
Im suprised it did not happen ages ago.
Why?
I agree with Drone & SHL on this one.
September 26, 2006 at 13:52 #77709EC and stav seemed to be at the core of the threads that degenerated to personal abuse. Their style and language was so similar I questioned if there were one poster with two accounts. As someone smarter than me once said â€ÂÂ
September 26, 2006 at 14:04 #77710I thought they were both interesting characters :cheesy: Both pretty switched on and had good opinions but they could both be smart @rses..
I like Aston’s suggestion to be honest. But I suppose the counter argument is that they were given a final warning…
September 26, 2006 at 14:05 #77711I completely agree with Drone and SHL too.
DB & Wallace, I think Cormack is trying to calm the situation down – the only thing worse than reading through a repetitive paranoia-fuelled spat is reading through a rehash of a repetitive paranoia-fuelled spat – particularly when one party isn’t present to defend themselves.
September 26, 2006 at 14:12 #77712I had plenty of disagreements with EC, and enjoyed nearly all of them. Would be a shame if his contributions are lost as he is one that I enjoyed learning things from.
September 26, 2006 at 15:10 #77713All very childish.
Seems like it’s okay to provoke going by who wasn’t banned.
No-one comes out of this looking good..
September 26, 2006 at 15:35 #77714I thought it suspicious that a thread on books should achieve 5 pages in such a short time – there’s just not that many good racing books !
September 27, 2006 at 07:55 #77715It is a shame to lose EC and Stav, both of whom have offered much of interest to this forum. I can’t see as they left Cormack much choice though.
Perhaps now EC has gone, one or two of his detractors might like to step into the breach and offer a similar level of quality posts about their methods. Thanks to EC and Stav I have learned a great deal about speed figures and pace. I think the coming weeks will show just how much poorer this forum will become. Snide comments and witty putdowns are entertaining enough but they don’t make for interesting debates or add anything of interest.
September 27, 2006 at 08:30 #77716Colourful characters are OK but you have to abide by the rules, especially when specifically asked to do so. Shame it had to go that far, surely forcing them to read one of J24’s Articles would have been enough punishment.
only joking! J24 ;)
September 27, 2006 at 08:51 #77717Excellent idea Aston, bring em both back and use that system in future for the ALL baiters, paranoia fuelled, awkward, over the top opinionated feckers
Sal
tTo be fair to Wallace, he did speak out while they were members, but i do tend to agree, it’s just not cricket when they’re not here to reply

September 27, 2006 at 09:11 #77718Could we have EC back, please?
I, more than most I suspect, believe that the rules should be abided by. But the penalties for transgression need not be so draconian.
