Friday interest: Here is the first race today rated as per Bios.

Saturday Interest: First race finds outsider Drive Time in a positive state, so it will be interesting to see how this one shapes prior to the main event with our National pick Oscar Time.
(I don’t advise backing Drive Time but keep an eye on its performance).

    Saturday April 9 2011
    Aintree 13:45
John Smith’s Mersey Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 2)

Bold Sir Brian (IRE) 13/05/2006 C
    Storm Brig 29/04/2005 C
    Drill Sergeant 28/03/2005 L

    —————–
The second race on the card (notwithstanding an early charity race) has rank outsider and 500/1 chance Classic Fly finding himself in a positive state. Again it will be interesting as a watching brief. Dan Breen is deemed to be in a somewhat critical state and although above the rest on form, could be error prone ?

    Saturday April 9 2011
    Aintree 14:15
John Smith’s Maghull Novices’ Chase (Grade 1)

    Classic Fly (FR) 16/02/2003 P

    Romanesco (FR) 05/03/2005 N
    Starluck (IRE) 21/03/2005 L

The 3rd race finds Peddlers Cross in a low state today and with the strong opposition I shall be laying this one today !

    Saturday April 9 2011
    Aintree 14:50
John Smith’s Aintree Hurdle (Grade 1)

    Oscar Whisky (IRE) 10/02/2005 OP
    Celestial Halo (IRE) 07/05/2004 OP
    Binocular (FR) 17/03/2004 P

Oscar Dan Dan (IRE) 03/06/2002 C
    Peddlers Cross (IRE) 29/03/2005 L
Ronaldo Des Mottes (FR) 01/03/2005 L
    Salden Licht 18/04/2004 LC
    ———————–

    Postscript to above
Outsiders Drive Time & Classic Fly assigned the positive handle met the same fate of falling whilst both being close up in the early stages of their respective races managed to crash out. Perhaps these runners in good states were overeaching their abilities – they were not deemed in critical states but it is likely that poor runners in good states are prone to such fates ?

Aintree meeting was not unkind to the bios with Fridays results almost without exception proving accurate to the positive states for the winners. Oscar Time was not disgraced in the National, so its onward and upward.

Looking ahead to Sunday: Jubail is in an optimum positive cycle and looks value in this youngster event. Won well 17th Oct but the bios did not match to the performance on that occasion. From Sunday’s positive, perhaps this gelding’s run could be impressive.

Looking to Monday: She’s Humble is forecast as favourite and as such makes appeal to LAY. She was in a favourable set of cycles on her latest winning run 28th March, however although most of this field are also in negative states tomorrow, Mister Matt and Health is Wealth make more appeal with their positive cycles.

Good racing today for a mid week: Lets see if this fillies race measures up regarding the bios. Ladies Are Forever looks attractive (OP), whilst favourite, Sing Softly (L)is now in a negative state. Earlier recent runs for Sing Softly, namely 20th March (N) & 3rd April (OP) both were wins in good cycles. That period has now gone.
Last Year Music Show won this race by 8 lengths. Interestingly, the bios were in a positive but critical state. I remember Authorized winning the Derby a few years back in exactly the same set of cycles.
Anyway, back to the present. Here is an acid test for the bios !

Looking at Newmarket’s Earl Of Sefton Stakes today:
Elusive Pimpernel as the vote with a very favourable set of cycles. In fact in this seven runner affair none are totally disadvantaged; by virtue of each moving towards better states
the majority are assigned as neutral (N)
