The longfellow was very arrogant and brash with it. Billy oozes confidence but no side to him. Seems well grounded. Good luck to him and hopefully he avoids injury and goes to the top. Reminds me of the choir boy. Baby face but deadly.

I think Lester’s deafness might have made him appear more brusque and unfriendly than he was. Interested to hear Gay Kelleway saying that he was the only one to congratulate her on her Royal Ascot win.

“The Kid” just gets better and better.

Watching Wolves this eve, no bets though, and Billy has just clocked up a treble. His ride in the 19.45 was another class ride.

A treble for the boy wonder at Southwell tonight and he is closing in on 200 winners for the calendar year.

He is going to get a more high profile job than stable jockey to George Boughey soon, isn’t he?

He is riding for way too many trainers and still operates at 16% (wins) and exactly the same strike-rate for 2nd place finishes. In fact he is 1-2-3 in roughly 45% of his rides. That’s quite decent, imo.

I wonder how Lester would have reacted to a Media Appearance course?

“I wonder how Lester would have reacted to a Media Appearance course?”

I would imagine similar to Ryan Moore & Michael Stoute here and Andre Fabre in France.

Billy is only 2 wins away from the record of 221 winners in a calendar year, and he has 7 rides booked at Wolverhampton tomorrow and 5 at Lingfield on Wednesday.
    Good luck Billy!

Not really: it just means that there is more racing nowadays.

Lester would have racked up many more winners had there been meetings 24/7 in his youth.

How does Billy’s percentage of wins to races compare to other greats?

According to Racing Post it’s 15% for races in GB / IRE over the past five seasons.

just under 3 years ago this thread started with talk of him having to reign it in a bit or he’ll lose his claim
now he’s banging in the most winners in a calendar year
if it were that easy, everyone would have done it
plenty of credit as far as I’m concerned
