The longfellow was very arrogant and brash with it. Billy oozes confidence but no side to him. Seems well grounded. Good luck to him and hopefully he avoids injury and goes to the top. Reminds me of the choir boy. Baby face but deadly.
July 17, 2024 at 22:55 #1702040I think Lester’s deafness might have made him appear more brusque and unfriendly than he was. Interested to hear Gay Kelleway saying that he was the only one to congratulate her on her Royal Ascot win.
October 25, 2024 at 19:53 #1710726“The Kid” just gets better and better.
Watching Wolves this eve, no bets though, and Billy has just clocked up a treble. His ride in the 19.45 was another class ride.
October 26, 2024 at 16:32 #1710860How many championships will be win ? , surely one of the big stables or owners will make a move for him in the next year or so
November 28, 2025 at 18:25 #1745807A treble for the boy wonder at Southwell tonight and he is closing in on 200 winners for the calendar year.
He is going to get a more high profile job than stable jockey to George Boughey soon, isn’t he?
November 28, 2025 at 18:35 #1745811November 28, 2025 at 21:39 #1745869He is riding for way too many trainers and still operates at 16% (wins) and exactly the same strike-rate for 2nd place finishes. In fact he is 1-2-3 in roughly 45% of his rides. That’s quite decent, imo.
December 8, 2025 at 17:47 #1747045200 up for The Boy Wonder.
December 8, 2025 at 18:53 #1747050I wonder how Lester would have reacted to a Media Appearance course?

I would imagine similar to Ryan Moore & Michael Stoute here and Andre Fabre in France.
December 29, 2025 at 19:32 #1749028Billy is only 2 wins away from the record of 221 winners in a calendar year, and he has 7 rides booked at Wolverhampton tomorrow and 5 at Lingfield on Wednesday.
Good luck Billy!December 30, 2025 at 19:21 #1749141Its some feat at his age if he lands it
Charles Darwin to conquer the World
December 30, 2025 at 19:33 #1749142Not really: it just means that there is more racing nowadays.
Lester would have racked up many more winners had there been meetings 24/7 in his youth.
December 31, 2025 at 08:18 #1749166How does Billy’s percentage of wins to races compare to other greats?
According to Racing Post it’s 15% for races in GB / IRE over the past five seasons.
December 31, 2025 at 08:59 #1749167just under 3 years ago this thread started with talk of him having to reign it in a bit or he’ll lose his claim
now he’s banging in the most winners in a calendar year
if it were that easy, everyone would have done it
plenty of credit as far as I’m concernedCharles Darwin to conquer the World
December 31, 2025 at 10:46 #1749169Meh – he’s no Constitution Hill
December 31, 2025 at 14:06 #1749174Only two chances left, but they’re both favs.
