This is a very difficult race to call in the day, let alone this far away, but I’ve decided to bet Benson early at 20-1.

The other horse that I like is Boothill at 12-1. I’ll bet him ap if he is in the declarations on Monday

I’ve went with West Cork here at 6-1, he must have a good chance of following up his Cheltenham victory

Decided to take a chance on Global Citizen

Seems fairly exposed type, but having a second look at him, he doesn’t have that many miles on the clock, and I thought that after a wretched 20/21 campaign, he’s shown some improvement lately. Beaten late on by a smart type at Doncaster latest, and I think it’s a result that will read better as the season progresses. Given a chance by handicapper, and almost a stone lower since his poor run in The County in March.

    I think he’s worth a try here.

Mack the man 25s e/w for me

Gets in off a very low weight

Has some back form that makes him look exceptionally well handicapped

He beat lightly squeeze who was running off 109 and is now 137

He then beat protektorat who was off 128 and song for someone off 147

They tried chasing last year and it just didn’t work out

Drifted like a barge from 2/1 to 13/2 on reappearance and is so well handicapped he won anyway

I’m convinced he has a good few lbs in hand

I’m hoping this has been the plan for a while :good:

I have totally and utterly convinced myself that Benson is going to end up a 150 horse at some point in the next year or so. I don’t mind making a fool of myself if i’m wrong, but live by the sword and die by the sword and all that.

I still can’t get over that run in this last year honestly, i don’t think i have ever seen anything like it before, he probably would of won in another 100 yards or so  Anyway he must of had a problem or something and that was the last we saw of him.

First run this year was quite good to be fair but something just not right with his last run after watching it again about 10 times. How can a horse in a steady run race be bumped along after a couple of furlongs, it’s totally obvious he is a nutcase and have been hoping that some sort of headgear would be applied for this, if ever any horse has ever required blinkers or something it is this one IMO.

So no excuses just a matter of being right or wrong.

I don’t think Llandinabo Lad should be 20-1 when he gave No Ordinary Joe 5 lbs and an 8 length beating here at Ascot last year, behind My Drogo. He now gives the favourite only 4 lbs and made a decent return after wind surgery behind Hunters Call last month when he probably went off too quick after over 200 days off.

I’ve went with Benson here, but it’s a tricky looking contest. 14-1 seems ok, well done Waroftheroses getting 20-1

    160 Tritonic
    159 No Ordinary Joe

    159 Benson
    157 Drop The Anchor
    156 Gerry Clermont

Top two against the field off the back of decent efforts at Cheltenham, and at the weights my figures suggest both are weighted to turn around form with winner West Cork.

Really good race this looks as competitive as a festival handicap, I felt there was more to come from Gerry Clermont and the likely strong pace here should suit. But it wouldn’t surprise me if any of half of these won in truth.

There,s two Goshen,s but at 8s I can’t not play , on a going day he could hose up here , the other one that interests me is Metier , he was only 11-2 for last year’s supreme and while he ran no race and has been poor first time out he,s course winner and back down to 142 he looks e.w value on ground that should suit a bit better

Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026

The one for me is Mack The Man. I think that he’s very overpriced, and I took 25-1 ew to 5 pls

Drop the Anchor for me. Winner of the big handicap hurdle at Leopardstown earlier this year and only 3 lengts down in the County Hurdle. Running of the same mark now. Surely he won’t come over from Ireland for nothing.

    Drop the Anchor 18/1 EW

Mack the Man @ 28/1 looks a decent EW bet to me. Ran a decent race in the BF hurdle two years ago before being BD at the last.

Also have to agree about Drpo the Anchor. Took 16s on him.

    Thanks VtC

I was chuffed when they were going a pace up front and mine was held up, as the leaders couldn’t keep that speed up. Tritonic looked a very decent performer last season and has picked up well after a pipe opener.

I should have had the handicap double at Ascot but cast aside the top rated for the second top!
