November 9, 2005 at 21:54 #90818With my nearly rational, balanced head on, weighing up the pros and cons:
1 Metal Mickey Suede
2 Film Star Suede
3 Twisterella Ride
4 Coffee and TV Blur
5 Prince Charming Adam and the Ants
6 Frankly Mr Shankly Smiths
7 Only Shallow My Bloody Valentine
8 Kinky Afro Happy Mondays
9 Sheriff Fatman Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine
10 Liquidator Harry J Allstars
11 Creep Radiohead
12 Just Radiohead
13 Got my Mojo Working Muddy Waters
14 Embarrassment Madness
15 October Swimmer JJ72
16 Voodoo Chile Jimi Hendrix
17 The Wind Cries Mary Jimi Hendrix
18 Size of a Cow Wonderstuff
19 Sympathy for the Devil Stones
20 I am the Resurrection Stone Roses
21 The Only One Charlatans
22 Cum on Feel the Noize Slade
23 Richard III Supergrass
24 Songs of Love Divine Comedy
However, I had to remove about 20 songs from this list on the grounds that it may appear a little obsessive and I couldn’t choose between them
1. Motorcycle Emptiness Manics
2. You Love Us er….Manics
3. Theme from MASH etc.
4. Love’s Sweet Exile
5. Sleepflower
6. La Tristessa Durera
7. Faster
8. She is Suffering
9. November 9, 2005 at 22:22 #90819
… but surely Aranalde, Judge Yrself is more worthy of a place on the list than You Stole The Sun…!
I’m suprised at the numbers of people who like ‘alternative’ rock. For some reason, I imagined that everyone would only listen to that traditional Irish folk music you hear at every outdoor market (Foster And Allen, etc).
I could honestly make about five CDs, and enjoy everyone equally. I can already think of around a hundred songs I should have included in my first post (Solisbury Hill, Genius Of Love, nearly all of Nirvana’s In Utero bar the singles, and on, and on, etc).
November 10, 2005 at 11:05 #90820Possibly you’re right, judged objectively, but these are the songs that mean the most to me and for personal reasons,
’You Stole The Sun’ has more impact on me. But when I finally get an IPOD, there will be room enough for every single song they wrote, with the possible exception of ‘Damn Dog’
November 12, 2005 at 20:05 #90821Try this for size……
1 End Of An Odyssey – Eloy
2 Supper’s Ready – Genesis
3 Pilgrim – After The Fire
4 Thick As A Brick (Side 1) – Jethro Tull
5 Forgotten Sons – Marillion
6 Dogs – Pink Floyd
7 2112 – Rush
8 Awaken – Yes
9 Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I-V) – Pink Floyd
10 The Musical Box – Genesis
11 Script for a Jester’s Tear – Marillion
12 Now That I’ve Found – After The Fire
13 The Gates Of Delirium – Yes
14 Way Of The World – Wishbone Ash
15 A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers – Van Der Graaf Generator
16 Man-Erg – Van Der Graaf Generator
17 Lady Fantasy – Camel
18 Starless – King Crimson
19 Close to The Edge – Yes
20 Firth Of Fifth – Genesis
