I was just wondering if anyone has been to Aintree on Ladies Day or Liverpool Day?
Are they both as busy as each other? I love to go racing, but I like to go for the racing, not for the social side of things. I went to the Gold Cup last year and litrally didn’t move from my spot for the whole day. It was a great day, but i’m more of a "paddock, bet, then watch the race at the rail" kind of person. I’m fully aware it will be busy, but not sure how busy.
Any thoughts would be helpful.Thanks
March 27, 2011 at 19:22 #347502If you want to go primarily for the racing the Thursday has to be the day. It’s a really solid programme and the course is much less rammed.
If the same as usual you get the Mildmay Chase, the 3m Hurdle and a cracking 2m Hcap Chase.
March 27, 2011 at 19:43 #347506if you appretiate the ability to move without getting stuck behind a wall of people, it’s Thursday you want. Top, top racing too. Can’t make the thursday this year, as much as I can’t complain about being able to get to the friday and saturday, the Thursday is a great days racing, and unlike Ladies day I tend to find, the majority of people are there for the racing, not to show off how much ronseal they have swum in that morning.

County Stand roof viewing is probably the best you can ask for on National Day . . . you have made a good choice.
Emmy – absolutely loved the swimming in Ronseal comment – that sums up "Ladies" Day perfectly.
March 29, 2011 at 13:20 #347740Living about 2 mins from Aintree i am a regular visitor and can defnately confirm that the Thursday is indeed the best day to enjoy the racing.
March 29, 2011 at 16:55 #347753On Thursday the racing crowd goes so it is actually quite busy round the paddock. On Friday, though there are more people there, it is sometimes quiter around the paddock because most of the Friday crowd have gone off to the bar.
You won’t see much of the racing from Tatts on Friday as the viewing bank is rammed. What I often do is stay around the paddock and watch the racing on the big screen which is quite fun because often some of the leading trainers are doing the same thing and you get to mingle with them.
Saturday is similar to Friday in that a lot of people head straight to the bar. Be prepared to queue for at least half an hour to get in on Saturday even with a badge. There is plenty of room to see the horses in the paddock before the big race but it might be quite a squeeze when you get back up to the CS roof.
Enjoy.
March 29, 2011 at 20:07 #347784If you want to experience Grand National day without the hustle and bustle of tattersalls then look no further than the West Tip stand. You get your own seat ( which is part of around 1000 temporary sheltered seats ) bookies in front of the stand, perfect viewing of a big screen, West Tip badge holders beer tent ( which is always easily accessible ) and toilets and food stalls right next to it. Heaven on a racecourse!!

Couldn’t agree more, Thursday is more for the purist punter, but Ladies Day I just find annoying now as its full of women dressed like clothes horses who know nothing about racing, but all about boozing
