Sadly broke down on his first run back at Newbury just now fter 671 days off the track following a leg injury. Prior to the race, Alice Plunkett was even saying how he had been having stem cell treatment on his leg to help it heal. I don’t know if it was the same leg or another issue, but he broke down badly and was pulled up immediately. RIP Beer Goggles.

November 29, 2019 at 17:18 #1476106Very sorry that this much-loved horse lost his life at Newbury this afternoon in the race he won at 40/1 two years ago. He was very accomplished at winning long-distance races at long prices. He is now reunited with his talented ex-jockey and rising star trainer Richard Woollacott who tragically took his own life a few weeks after Beer Goggles gave him the biggest win of his training career. (Apparently his wife was having a relationship with one of his jockeys.) RIP both Beer Goggles and Richard Woollacott.
