49 entries for the beginners’ chase at Naas on Saturday and there are some decent horses among them.
Some horses that didn’t really get going over fences last season and numbers bolstered a bit by the horses from the beginners’ chase on the Fairyhouse card that was washed away. That meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday but if the weather claims more racing there could be horses going to all corners of the country at any old trip just to get a start.Maximum field beginners’ chases on heavy…they’ll get an education anyway
November 6, 2019 at 14:38 #1474215Shame that it isn’t the case in the U.K.
Beginners and Novice chases seem to be avoided like the plague by trainers. This leads to dreadfully uncompetitive 4 or 5 runner affairs. Shame really.November 6, 2019 at 15:47 #1474219The large amount of entries is partly due to how little racing there is in Ireland at this time of year. There must be a case for increasing the number of meetings. It must be really tough for small and middling Irish trainers to keep coming up against Mullins and Elliot hotpots in almost every beginner or novice race.
