Brilliant Graham that is a seriously decent return and what a price 90/1, that’s just what I need to pay for my trip to the Arc de Triomphe this year but I wouldn’t know one end of a golf club from another all my betting skills are to do with horses, but I know the Footy, Golf, Tennis, Snooker are good little earners if you know a bit about them and I’d be more of a hinderance than an asset on Darren’s Thread..LOL I think I’ll stick to the gee gees and get down to some serious studying for the flat season ahead. At least we got off to a flyer on Saturday..best of luck and let us know if you get any more up like that..Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 29, 2018 at 20:13 #1348426Completely forgot this since Cheltenham, sorry BigG
Gone for Monbeg Notorious as Star Horse and Bellshill this weekendBlackbeard to conquer the World
March 29, 2018 at 23:31 #1348448I did exactly the same last year Nathan, I was so keyed into Cheltenham
that it went right out out of my head. I didn’t even put up the reminder
for the following week, so don’t feel bad about it mateWhich brings me on to the week 20 transfer update. As usual, transfers to
be in by 11pm tomorrow, Friday 30/03/18. Remember that this week the Bonus
Race, The Irish Grand National, is on Monday. I wouldn’t want anyone just
looking over Saturday/Sunday races and letting it slip past. Having said that, it’s
as tough as they come and by the time the transfer window shuts, there will be many
a horse who isn’t in the final line up. Personally, I think that Sutton Manor
would have a great chance if he lines up. I don’t think he should be 33/1 and I’ve
backed him. I wouldn’t blame anyone if they skipped the race, there’s no sure fire
winner there. The Ryanair Gold Cup at Fairyhouse on Sunday sees the rematch of
Invitation Only and Shattered Love. The latter of those two is strongly fancied
to confirm the form, but Invitation Only was travelling well when he slipped on
landing 4 out and lost all chance. They wont have it all their own way, Petit
Mouchoir disappointed at Cheltenham, but both he and Saint Calvados cut their
own throats by going off like two scalded cats. I’m not saying that either would
have beaten footpad, but PM simply set a target for Footpad to reel in after the
2nd last. The Bumper and the Mares Novice Hurdle, also on the same card, are 59,000 euro
races, and depending how they cut up tomorrow, they could throw up easier pickings,
whilst Haydock has three £30.000+ races on Saturday.I’ll update the league tomorrow. Good luck if you go for 3 tomorrow, or if you want
to start sifting in a couple with the big bonus races at Aintree in mindMarch 30, 2018 at 14:41 #1348503I missed the 11pm deadline by 10 mins after Cheltenham and was consumed with guilt, until the Sunday afternoon by which time all my 3 selections had finished well out of the money anyway!
Might give the Irish National a swerve as nothing stands out for me and there are some potentially easier races with good prize money this weekend. I already have Belshill in my stable so will obviously leave him be and cheer him onMarch 30, 2018 at 20:10 #1348551I think that you might already have the winner in your stable for the Irish National Tonge.
Bellshill is the class horse in the race without doubt. I’m toying with chancing two in that
as I really like the chances of Sutton Manor, but also think that Bellshill might just look
a very silly price at 9/1 after the race. It’s the lure of the Bonus points that’s sucking me
in. It’s probably safer to chance one as there are a couple with very strong credentials running
on Sunday in the shape of Laurina and Shattered Love. Three hours to go and I still can’t make up
my mindMarch 30, 2018 at 20:58 #1348556I also left Bellshill in my stable Tonge so lets hope that’s one problem we won’t have to solve
.
Difficult to chose between Invitation Only and Shattered Love Graham but I have gone Shattered Love as she has proved that she can beat the boys.
Just a slight worry about this race coming too soon as she did make a mistake at the last at Cheltenham, but in good hands so sure she can do it.Have to rush as I’ve only just started thinking about this tonight and I know how quickly the time flies by when you’re studying up the form.
Good luck to everyone and let’s hope we have a good move up the Leaderboard this week Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 31, 2018 at 01:43 #1348573Week 19 complete, although it’s been a pretty quiet one. A few of us hit the crossbar
or were let down by some that looked as near to a sure thing as you’ll get in this game.
Even so, Damien McShane (On The Snaff) managed to prise out a very decent 50 points and
was the week’s highest scorer. Great stuff Damien on a quiet week with no bonus raceAs for the league, we’re treading water in the same spot as last week, 59th. Here’s
hoping we can maybe get some bonus points from the Irish National, difficult as that may
be. I’ve gone with my heart a bit and not only have I selected my 33/1 shot, Sutton
Manor, I’ve got my star on him too. I thought seriously about putting it on Laurina,
definitely the more obvious choice, but I’d be kicking myself if I missed out on double
points when I seriously fancy the horse. I’m with you on Shattered Love Jac, we won’t
know if Cheltenham has taken it’s toll until after the race, but she’s tough and talented.Good luck TRF’ers

for week 21 transfers to be in by 11pm tomorrow Friday 06/04.18. One
week to the big one, but it’s still a huge week with 3 Bonus Races
at Aintree. The Betway Aintree Hurdle and the Betway Bowl Chase are both on Thursday
and the JLT Melling Chase is on Friday. Surely, surely there’s a 100 points in the bag
with Buveur D’air in the Aintree Hurdle if you fancy your star on him. Having said that,
I’m sure there will be Supasundae fans who will look back to the Irish Champion Hurdle
and his defeat of Faugheen, and those old war horses The New One and My Tent Or Yours
will try and upset the apple cart. The same “certainty” might be said for the odds on
Might Bite, but I’m not so certain on that front. He had a really tough race on draining
ground in the Gold Cup, whereas Bristol De Mai, who disappointed last time out in the
Cotswold Chase, has had the benefit of a couple of months off. NTD will have been aiming
at this after deciding to give him a wind operation and give Cheltenham a miss.I don’t think the picture is just as clear with the Melling Chase on Friday. Does Altior
really need stepping up to 2m4f, and although he won well at Cheltenham how much did he leave
behind there? I’m not convinced Henderson will run him, it seems no decision has been made
at this point.Whichever way you go, the very best of luck. We’re into the last month now, let’s hope it is
a good one for the TRF teamLeague update will be tomorrow.
April 6, 2018 at 22:01 #1349255Good luck everyone this week.
Decided to go for the Bonus races with Beveur D’Air as my star (along with most of the players I think) couldn’t leave dear old Bristol De Mai out in the Betway Bowl as he always runs well after a break and has had the wind operation, so who knows. Just in case Altior non runner have gone for Min in the Melling and Unioniste in the Foxhunters as I didn’t know what other races to go for. Not a great fan of backing horses that have run big races at Cheltenham for Aintree and think Paul Nichols will do a lot better here.
Hoping to get one or two runners from that lot and fingers well and truly crossed we can all move up a notch or three.

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 6, 2018 at 23:50 #1349268Week 20 comes to an end without a lot of change in the league this week, Mike, Hugh and
Sean still fill the top spaces. Well done to you guys for being consistently at the top.
This week’s star player is Michael Chatwin (Sycamoredesign), who makes a good jump up the
league from 19th to 16th with an impressive 120 points. Very well done Michael, and can I
say that you were robbed mate with Folsom Blue in the bonus race the Irish National. I’ve
absolutely no doubt that he would have won had he not been carried out after the last, he
flew home and would have won in another couple of strides.I managed to get my transfers in with minutes to spare, it’s so hard to concentrate on
the horses with the distraction of the golf. Jac, I think we might all (or most) have
the same idea for our star this week. If Buveur D’Air hasn’t been drained at Cheltenham,
he surely takes the Aintree Hurdle. I had Altior in my stable, but as I’m not convinced
he’ll head to Aintree I’ve stuck in Might Bite. He’s another who will have had to get
over a hard race in the Gold Cup, but I just have the feeling that Bristol De Mai is
going to come good here, so I’ve joined Jac’s gang and recruited BDM. I hope that they
are worth 75 points between them. For my third choice I’ve gone for one that I’ve followed
for some time now and put up here many a time in the shape of Baywing who runs at Kelso
tomorrow. He did me a big favour last time out in the Eider, and although he’s up 9lbs I
think he won with a lot in hand. We’re very much in the home straight now, just the 3 weeks left after this but with a
further 8 Bonus races still to go after this week things could change quite a bit.
Good luck team TRF, let’s hope we can break this deadlock of 59th place, where we’ve

At least you got a run as I’m not hopeful all my choices will turn up next week. Most of them like Baywing had hard races and it’s a big ask so close to the Festival, but fingers well and truly crossed and hoping to get 1 or 2 into the winners enclosure.
Manic week for me as my daughter gets married next Sunday so must put reminders all round the house to post up in the numerous compys going on. If I do manage to gain any winners it will be more by luck than judgement as there will be not a moments peace in our house next week. Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 7, 2018 at 20:29 #1349391Cheers Jac, it was a pity he hit that 2nd last fence, it just knocked the stuffing out of him
a bit after 3 miles on heavy ground. Close, but no cigar….that’s racing for you
I had hoped he might go for the Scottish National rather than this, it’s soft enough now for
him but I know the trainer was scared it would dry up and thought they would take his chance
here. He’s still entered in the Scottish but it would be asking a lot to run there 2 weeks
after today. Plenty to look forward to this week, I just hope Aintree doesn’t turn out to be
as brutal as Cheltenham was. A few winners would be nice, but home safely is the number one
aim.Good luck all
April 9, 2018 at 21:58 #1349572Well that’s my, and very likely a fair percentage on here, Star Horse down the Suwannee.
Buveur D’Air is out I think my spider senses must have been tingling when I put my
transfers in, as I stuck in Supasundae as well. At least I’ll get a run in a bonus race,
I decided to take Altior out, I just wasn’t convinced Nicky Henderson would run him. It
worked out that way, and I thought about sticking in Politologue but went for Baywing
instead. That didn’t quite work out, but hey ho, if you can’t take a joke you shouldn’t
have joined I sayApril 10, 2018 at 12:09 #1349631I also starred Buveur D’Air. Had Footpad as well. Annoying isn’t it?
April 10, 2018 at 23:57 #1349720Certainly is Tonge, and I’d imagine that most of us are in the same boat with
Buveur D’Air as our star horse. I suppose that negates it somewhat, but it’s
a bit of a double blow for you with Footpad, I’m sure he’ll have been a popular
pick too. It’s still a bit of a bugger thoughApril 11, 2018 at 00:33 #1349728I also starred BD and have Footpad in My Stable although he was already there. I have BDM, Min, Unioniste as my subs this week and Might Bite too in the Betway as my Elite horse. Not sure if Apples Shakira and Apples Jade are running but have them too so hopeful of one or two of those.
Quite a few Cheltenham horses running next weekend 21st so check your Stable thoroughly before subbing anything out.
Must say it’s hard thinking ahead 5/6 days with your selections when the trainer decide to take them out or run them at other venues..anyway best of luck this weekend Graham, Tonge and all, you have to give us points for trying ..JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 12, 2018 at 22:58 #1350044I think a timely reminder wouldn’t go amiss here, as we’re up to our neck in competitions
and concentrating on the races tomorrow and Saturday. So, please don’t forget that you
need to get your transfers in by 11pm tomorrow Friday 13/04/18. Not surprisingly the
Grand National is a Bonus Race, but we also have the Liverpool
Stayers Hurdle which is also on Saturday. It was a pity there were a couple of high profile horses who didn’t make the tapes, but there was
some terrific racing today. Jac, your boy Bristol de Mai might have been beaten, but he ran a
cracker of a race and just came up against one that is a bit special. Been a good day for me
for my pocket, and not too bad in the competition, but as I don’t have any running tomorrow I
expect I might lose some of the ground I made up today.Good luck tomorrow at Aintree, and best of luck with your transfers. I’ll update the league
placings after Aintree has finished tomorrow -
