Friday 14th March
:
Hexham 4.55 – Not shown.
Two slots available this morning to show two NH meetings and one flat.
In the first 26 min slot ATR show a full review from Wolverhampton (17 min). Then squeeze two (minus the missing Hexham race) NH meetings into the 41 min slot.

Much more of the NH meetings could have been shown if they had used some common sense and shown one of these in the first slot at 9.30.
....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.
March 14, 2014 at 13:00 #471751I must add that their website has been absolutely abysmal this week too. I have been trying to use it for Website Content and encountered the following problems:
– Racecards (including Cheltenham) intermittently disappearing
– Racecard navigation disappearing
– Race replays not available
– Site VERY slow and sometimes not available at all
– Occasionally logged-out after no period of inactivity and correct password rejected when trying to log-in again
– Very slow ‘fast results’ and comments in running appearing slower than Racing Post and Sporting Life. It’s a very poor show all round on ATR at the moment. Racing Post have not been faultless either with the Images site experiencing downtime.
March 27, 2014 at 11:40 #473411I wonder if anyone spotted this morning on the review of yesterdays action at Lingers them showing the 3.30 from last Wednesday but then showing the head on of the correct race!

The same thing happened for a Doncaster flat race about six months ago. One would have hoped things would have improved but clearly not. There doesn’t seem to be any will on the part of ATR’s management to eradicate basic mistakes. I watched a flat race on the sand yesterday and the presenter was bugging up their sectional timing facility. The race started, the graphic didn’t appear until the final 1.5f and then it showed a time but not the distance covered. It quickly switched to the end time and said "finish" but was then quickly removed.
They have a track record in rolling out channels and tools without having apparently trialled them successfully. At present you cannot sign up for the live pictures online (there is a message saying a new service will be up and running shortly). I cannot think of another commercial situation where a perfectly adequate service is removed before the new one is ready to replace it seamlessly. I would love one of the Dragon’s Den people to do a troubleshooting exercise with ATR – I am sure they would be appalled.
March 27, 2014 at 19:02 #473448More issues with their website today too. The Ffos Las and Kempton cards disappeared completely between 14:00 and 15:00.
March 31, 2014 at 17:14 #473804Not a review moan, but I cannot believe the promo they have just played out which includes the Irish Grand National – who wrote this garbage (I am assuming John Hunt only had to read it and had no editorial influence).
How can can you start to talk about high profile winners of the great race and say it was won by "class acts like Commanche Court and Bobbyjo" without mentioning the obvious fact that
Arkle
and
Flyingbolt
won it carrying welter burdens, not to mention the great
Fortria
.
Granted they credit Desert Orchid, however that notwithstanding, this is typical of the lazy research we have to put up with on ATR – some newbie checking out Wikipedia knocking up a half baked script and hoping for the best. Whilst we can understand a novice struggling why is there not a senior person checking this rubbish?

:
Leopardstown 3.45 – No commentary, just crowd noise.

May 1, 2014 at 12:20 #477477Good work today showing countless replays of interviews at Punchestown rather than the replays of the races at the other tracks.
Five meetings today but more of the same tomorrow no doubt.
May 1, 2014 at 19:12 #477507Good work today showing countless replays of interviews at Punchestown rather than the replays of the races at the other tracks.
Five meetings today but more of the same tomorrow no doubt.
And probably Saturday and Sunday morning too!
It would seem ATR have decided, to give Punchestown the coverage they used to give to Royal Ascot.Wall to wall previews, betting news, interviews and analysis.
Why do they need to show a review in the morning which is just a repeat of the 8.30pm review every evening?
There will be 17 UK meetings this week with no review shown at all. In the last couple of months they have started to catch up on meetings from previous days which has been helped with the addition of the 11.30am slot, but doubt whether many of these will ever be shown.
As usual no information given to the viewers.
....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.
May 2, 2014 at 06:04 #477550From a selfish point of view I hope they show Punchestown in today (Friday mornings) review as heavy rain messed up my Sky signal!

Otherwise, I would be in agreement that the other meetings should at least get a look in.
I suppose with Ascot moving to the other side, ATR won’t give a flying fig about their card on Wednesday.
May 5, 2014 at 11:34 #478125So then, 17 meetings not shown last week on the review slots. What do we get this morning?
Three showings of Gowran Park and two of Sligo from yesterday.
Three meetings from last week could easily have been shown as well as yesterday’s racing.
Shockingly poor from ATR again.

....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.
May 20, 2014 at 20:18 #479657Thursday 15th May:
Due to a technical fault the 11.00am Racing News wasn’t broadcast.
Despite the next news bulletin being scheduled for 12.00, ATR decided to show it at 11.30 instead, presumably when the Naas review was going to be broadcast.
So no review from Naas – Thanks ATR

....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.
May 20, 2014 at 20:25 #479659Sunday 18th May:
Surely no problems today – Three meetings to fit into two slots.
9.15 – 10.00 Punchestown
10.15 – 11.00 Doncaster (Twice!!)
What happened to Uttoxeter? Not shown at all – Why?
....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.
May 20, 2014 at 20:29 #479661Monday 19th May:
SP graphic for Ripon 2.40 and betting graphic for Ripon 3.10 wrong way round.
....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.
May 20, 2014 at 20:39 #479663Tuesday 20th May:
Windsor 8.35 – Betting and SP graphics were for the 8.25 at Roscommon.
School boy errors creeping in again.

....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.
May 22, 2014 at 12:15 #479754Jamie Lynch, the Timeform "expert" on this morning’s Raceday preview gave us the following nugget of priceless information about Western Hymn (whilst referring to Stoute’s decision to keep Snow Sky, whom Western Hymn beat at Newbury, in the Derby):
"…its also a good thing for Western Hymn…who made short work of him (Snow Sky) at Newbury. He (Western Hymn) is one horse who has come out of the trials,
despite not contesting one
, with his profile boosted".
So must have all just imagined that Western Hymn ran in the long established 12f Epsom Derby trial now known as the Bet365 Classic Trial – the race contested by future Derby stars such as Troy, Henbit, Shergar, Shahrastani and Benny The Dip.
You couldn’t make it up. And sadly any younger viewers won’t question these self appointed "experts".
May 22, 2014 at 12:49 #479756…..decided to continue to watch the raceday preview which included a Derby preview following tuesday’s latest forfeit stage. During Jamie Lynch’s "expert" analysis he informed us that Ectot was "probably more likely to go for the French Derby". This was after Ectot had been scratched from the race two days ago!
He and Tommo then went on to speculate whether Dante victor The Grey Gatsby would be supplemented – completely ignorant of Kevin Ryan’s post race comments at York which ruled Epsom out and Chantilly in.
