Kopek wasn’t too bad at the last, he just landed awkwardly.
He’s the most talented 2 miler in the race but just had an awful prep.
Lulamba should be aimed for the King George and Gold Cup from here on.
Maybe the Ryanair next year as 6yo is pretty young for a Gold Cup.Kargese is such a likeable mare. Never runs a bad race.
March 10, 2026 at 14:17 #1757998If your making mistakes are you the best ? , the 2nd is likely a better horse in time , Lalumba the new Jonbon ?

Shorter trip than Leopardstown and better ground- Kargese would have beaten him.

Lulamba, Shishkin and Jonbon all have something in common. The trainer continuously ran them all over the wrong trip.
I think he’ll learn from his mistakes with Lulamba this time though.
March 10, 2026 at 14:20 #1758003I agree green. Kargese would’ve been too quick for Romeo today.
March 10, 2026 at 14:21 #1758004Very sad news that Hansard had to be put down – condolences to all connections, especially the groom.
March 10, 2026 at 14:23 #1758006You aren’t the best horse if you don’t jump best on the day.
The more I know the less I understand.
March 10, 2026 at 14:23 #1758007Kopek didn’t make any ground up the hill , no doubt Henderson will step his horse up but that’s 2 Cheltenhams he fluffed up …

March 10, 2026 at 14:27 #1758010Sad news about Hansard. He landed awkwardly over the water jump, wonder if that did any damage.
March 10, 2026 at 14:27 #1758011Best jumper, with the best jockey on board, won today.
March 10, 2026 at 14:30 #1758012“Kopek wasn’t too bad at the last, he just landed awkwardly.”
Cost him the race Townend confirmed after.
March 10, 2026 at 14:31 #1758013Disagree re Romeo – he is not a natural 2m horse to me and on that quicker ground he would have been caught out when they quickend down the hill even more than he was at Leopardstown, where if Kargese hadn’t have made the mistake at the last she would have beaten him.
That being said I think that at this stage 3m might also be a problem for him and he would have been a shoo in for the 2m4f Turners had they not axed the race.
March 10, 2026 at 14:33 #1758015Lulamba, Shishkin and Jonbon all have something in common. The trainer continuously ran them all over the wrong trip.
They also have/had the tendency to make that one BIG mistake.
March 10, 2026 at 14:35 #1758018Romeo is a 3 miler though , I reckon it’s his class that’s got him through at 2 ( helped by winter ground )
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
March 10, 2026 at 14:47 #1758030HDLg – I wouldn’t actually disagree given that he won his PTP over 3m but at this stage of his career, I very much doubt they would have wanted to try 3m for the first time at the Festival, especially off the back of his last two runs at 2m1f.
March 10, 2026 at 14:50 #1758036Why , if he’s a 3 miler he’s a 3 miler , he’ll be jumping at a slower pace , all positives in my eyes
