I tend to agree with that, reet.
February 14, 2010 at 10:41 #276527Just trying to find a proper example of "pulling double"
The same term can be applied to a 5 furlong sprinter, a hurdler or a four mile chaser. It has to mean the horse is on a tight reign at the very leastNot at all, Look I’ve nowhere to hide if I’m wrong I’ll have to rejoin the forum using the moniker "Long Runners"
I said on here that he looked a really good thing today and advised all his fans to really lump on him big time, forget the price if he’s a genuine Cheltenham horse he was a certainty today.
As a big fan of Diamond Harry (especially at Newbry) the same applied ..if he was a genuine Cheltenham horse he was a certainty today. I lumped on Harry today (four figure sum) at a similar price, well 4/6…but it was money for old rope reallyGood on you, CS. Truth be told, I’m probably as entrenched in my position as anyone else. That said, I think today’s effort from LR, thoroughly dispels the notion that he is a ‘stayer’ and not much else.
Jumping and jockey concerns apart, I’m sure you would concede that the horse is – at the very least – as versatile in terms of trip, as one could hope for in a novice chaser?
Grasshopper IMO He’s a decent novice chaser, no better, no worse, but I’m probably a lot more critical than if he hadn’t been touted as, if not the Second Arkle then the second Flyingbolt at least. These "talking" horse come alomng every two or three years and very few turn out to anything like as good as the hype.
The only problem with that is, is that it could very well leave him mired in no man’s land trip-wise. That’s not exactly a disaster for a 5yo with his whole career ahead of him, but it does leave the likes of us potentially having to settle for a thoroughly unsatisfactory no-score-draw.
If he was mine, first my son wouldn’t be riding him, he’s too tall for a start, secondly he wouldn’t be going top this years Festival, he’d be learning his trade then going to Aintree and/or possibly over to Ireland for one of the April Festivals
As for Diamond Harry – he is fast becoming my bete-noir. I absolutely adore him, but can never catch him right. For a horse who gives the visual impression of constantly being on the verge of giving up, he doesn’t half keep finding.
I’m also still undecided re THe RSA, it’s not so much his quirks as they way his mind wanders, much as I love Timmy Murphy as a jockey Barry Gerharty did seem to settle him better, don’t understand why? Weird Al is a huge danger to everyone. I think I’m leaning slightly towards him although I’ve never ever backed against Harry
One half of me says Choc rode a shocker today – particularly going to the cross-fence (he’s clearly unfamiliar with Pythagorus Theorum) – and Bensalem should have won…..and the other half suspects that Diamond Harry would have found more if required.
He had loads in hand AK says he won’t be taking Harry on again
On balance, I’d be marginally disappointed if I was a DH backer. Am I being too harsh?
February 14, 2010 at 12:14 #276560Yes
February 14, 2010 at 13:36 #276575Weird Al looks like a good bet to me.

I have a feeling Shakervilz will win tomoro and come into the reckoning for the Arkle. The horse he beat last time out had 6l to find with Cousin Vinny when he ran at Naas. With further Improvement likely he could be a runner at big prices""Sat Feb 13, 2010 11:40 pm
Osana 17.5Shakervilz 100
in the Betfair Market for the Arkle.
HMMMMM…..if i knew he was going to the Arkle for defo their is a appealing trade"
There is a RSA Winner if he goes there…beat Osana easy their on his 2nd start. Hugely Impressive . I think the step up in trip will bring more improvement as he stayed the best their today
February 14, 2010 at 17:03 #276640We can forget Osana if we hadn’t aready, and I can’t really see Shakervilz trouble the judge either

February 14, 2010 at 17:06 #276644We he collataral form lines going everywhere there
Major Finnegan to Sizing Europe/An Cathoir Mor/Sports Line/Captain Cee Bee
February 14, 2010 at 17:07 #276645Sorry Chelts that was supposed to be Captain Cee Bee
Soceror finished about 6l behind him at Naas and wasn’t sighted today.
Cousin Vinny couldn’t jump a shopping trolley
February 14, 2010 at 17:14 #276647I did take 16 quid at a 100/1 but i don’t see that he has enough pace for the Arkle if i am honest. RSA now that the race i think he would go much better in. Much more interesting than his stablemate uimhiraceathair
March 2, 2010 at 16:29 #280061Osana here for me as at 25-1 e/w reckon he’s got a cracking chance, handles the ground, stays well. Like his chances ata decent price.
March 2, 2010 at 18:36 #280079I’ll give up if Osana wins. Might grab 3rd if a couple falter though!
March 2, 2010 at 18:57 #280082Still can’t see anything beating the Captain.
Go on the Cee Bee.
March 2, 2010 at 19:59 #280094I’ll give up if Osana wins. Might grab 3rd if a couple falter though!
Thats a bold statement. I’d say he has the perfect speed/stamina and ground handling abilities to put in a good run here. At a decent price if he stays upright I can see him him being involved in the finish. A decent pace on decent ground should see him go well IMO. Much as I like Captain Cee Bee and Sizing Europe, Osana is very much overpriced…
March 2, 2010 at 20:08 #280099Not worried that they went past him like he was standing still? And that he got brushed aside by inferior animals to those 2 lto? Don’t answer lol, pointless questions given you’re backing him! Good luck
March 2, 2010 at 20:13 #280101I’ve heard rumours that Osana may have picked up some kind of problem during that Navan race and may not travel. EOG is on Get On tomorrow morning so hopefully he’ll shed some light on his participation.
March 2, 2010 at 20:19 #280105Still can’t see anything beating the Captain.
Go on the Cee Bee.
Correct Gaz!
Can’t see anything in the field with anywhere near the same level of natural ability as this horse. There’s probably still a bit of value left in him at the current price. There’ll be plenty of us Paddies with our pockets full after the Supreme and I can see a major plunge on Captain Cee Bee. JP will no doubt be venturing into the ring too.
Paddy Power have a special double today of Captain Cee Bee & Garde Champetre at 14/1. Might have a small nibble at that.
