bit disrespectful to hardy eustace imo
January 22, 2010 at 15:01 #271421Better than beating a 4yo hype horse who can’t win at Chelts!
I happen to think that the 2008 Supreme was one of the best Supreme Novices we have had in a while.

That’s the only piece of form he has that "looks" exceptional. However, I am not willing to believe he would have beaten a 100% Hardy Eustace in his pomp.
January 22, 2010 at 15:50 #271438seems to me..
Sizing Europe shouldn’t have bothered running over hurdles..
given he can’t possibly have ever run a good race..
kind of makes him, as a horse, all a bit pointless, I think..January 22, 2010 at 15:57 #271440seems to me..

January 22, 2010 at 16:05 #271441January 22, 2010 at 16:33 #271451on the contrary Big Bucks, he’s ran plenty of good races, that doesn’t make him thye 2nd coming
January 22, 2010 at 16:35 #271452Not saying that tbh!!
January 22, 2010 at 16:38 #271454The Arkle is a race I always like, this year I will be having a bet on Captain Cee Bee, his last run had everything but a good last jump, had he not fell he’d of beaten Sizing Europe easily, if he puts in a round of good jumps at cheltenham he’ll beat them all.
Others too look out for are Somersby and French Opera, though I’d like to see another run from both before making my mind up, Somersby put in a good run last time and if he can repeat it I think ill have an each way punt on him.
January 22, 2010 at 16:39 #271456In fairness you never di, but I have heard people express this opinion to me. I’d still fancy him to be in the places in the Arkle, but don’t think he’ll beat Captain Cee Bee.
January 22, 2010 at 16:43 #271460Yeah I know, tbh atm I can’t split them, but was taken aback a bit by the superlatives heaped on CCB after falling, given SE won the race!!! Bit odd I thought.
Never quite agreed with the "open Arkle theory", think those 2 are a fair bit clear of the rest.
January 22, 2010 at 16:46 #271461Yeah, imo its hard to see anything other than 4 or 5 with a chance

I don’t think any of Sizing Europe’s hurdles form is better than Captain Cee Bee’s Supreme Novice win.His Irish Champion hurlde win couldn’t have been more impressive unless he’s been pulling a cart.
Had he not picked up his injury two out in The Champion Hurdle it seems to me (and still does having watched it again recently) that he looked like running away with the race, it took a whole season to nurse him back to his true form.He cost me a very large (5 figure) winning yankee in 2008, I had him teamed up with with Garde Champetre, Tidal Bay and Denman but I certainly hold nothing against him
January 26, 2010 at 12:55 #272149Yes this is a really cracking heat and only second to the Champion Hurdle as the best race of the festival IMO.
I must agree I thought that CCB would have won last time out quite easily but of course the fences are there to be jumped.
I still think Osana has an outstanding chance in the Arkle and if you also look at the way in which Mad Max won first time up you would think this could be in the mix after it’s well advertised breathing problems.

January 26, 2010 at 18:53 #272207Sizing Europe will win the Arkle. To much has been made of last time out Captain Cee Bee fell at the last.Sport is not about ifs and buts it is about who ends up winning. And Sizing Europe beat him last time.Who is to say the same thing will happen at the festival though there be a bigger field this time.
I do like Captain Cee Bee and he is a very good horse but my tip is Sizing Europe
January 26, 2010 at 23:42 #272291Yup, good jumping is absolutely imperative. One mistake in the Arkle and you’re pretty much done for.
For what it’s worth I think Tataniano has it sewn up. Sizing Europe just has too many trends against him.
January 27, 2010 at 14:43 #272357It might be TAPK who’s quivering on Sunday night though if Ruby hits the target with Take The Breeze on Sunday.
Granted, Ruby could have me quivering, but it will be on Tataniano, who will be team Nicholls only runner in the race!
Take the Biscuits chances have been blown away in the breeze! -
