    Hi Paul,

    Are you at Newmarket today?
Would love an indipendant hands on (or should that be heels on?) opinion of the ground today.

Your going reports are greatly appreciated.

I will be Mark – still sitting in my office at home at the moment – should be there about half eleven / midday and will update as soon as I can.

To my utter surprise the going is much better than expected – I can only assume Newmarket has missed most of the really heavy rain.

I was expecting the ground to be tacky – in fact it is what I would call perfect ground.

A good covering of grass with just a little bit of give (of course I am not quite as heavy as a racehorse)

The weather is generally overcast, although the sun is breaking through and there is a slight breeze.

We had rain on and off for most of yesterday afternoon in Newmarket although very regional and Michael Prosser said that although it had rained near the finish they had very little out at the mile start.

Pretty dry overnight though. It was spitting with rain at around 8am but
nothing significant and since then it has been warm (quite muggy) and overcast but no rain.

    Paul,

Any update on the distressed elderly lady that backed Pyrrah?

    Paul,

Any update on the distressed elderly lady that backed Pyrrah?

Well there is some conjecture as to whether it was the losing bet or coming face to face with Big Mac that caused her distress :)
