Does anyone else do antepost golf? It’s certainly a pretty soft market for easy money. Dunnowhy. Start of tournaments throws up attractive odds for journeymanpros who’ll still make the w/e. Beats backing Tigger who might start at 6 or 7 and come in to only 3 by the cut. Bjorn is a good example where odds can start as high as 75 and come in to 20+ by the Saturday. Maruyama, Weir, some of the Aussie pros (Scott especially) who are decent hitters are so overpriced. I know that folks look at the footie and snooker but I think these tend to be more aggressive markets – that’s probably why – there’s more interest. Golf attracts a lot more one-off or vacation punters (at least that’s my feeling) given the volume of money on the top players at the expense of decent but massively overvalued pros. As an experiment, I y’day got Monty, Poulter, Rose and a few others at odds over 150. Rose (and one of the yanks) has gone but the others are in. Could sell now at about 50 – that’s after one lousy match. 15pt profit. Beats creasing the RP all afternoon for 2 selections.<br>Any thoughts?
