I will also be at Ascot. Does this rule me out of participating at all?
October 10, 2017 at 00:00 #1320895I am also going to Ascot on the day. So sadly will not be able to score.
October 10, 2017 at 00:20 #1320896As it happens, I’ll also be away, but I’m not at the racing and if it came to
the bit I could try and stay in one place long enough to attempt scoring. It
wouldn’t be ideal, but I wouldn’t like to see Diamond Geezer and Nathan stuck
for lack of a scorer. I’m still hopeful that someone, as I mentioned before,
with a foot in both camps could ideally take this on. If that doesn’t appear to
be on the cards, the best I could offer is trying to keep things going, and as
Nathan suggested, someone from TH would have to copy and paste over any updates
on the scores that I post. Spread sheets are not my thing, so it would be half
an A4 pad, 2 pencils and a rubber (and a house measure of Glenmorangie) to keep
it going. That’s the best I can offer DG if there isn’t anyone available. Hopefully someone
might yet step forward, that would certainly keep Mrs BigG happy as we’re supposed
to be visiting “interesting places”. Failing that, I’ll do my best to be available.October 10, 2017 at 12:25 #1320939I will also be at Ascot. Does this rule me out of participating at all?
No, you can still post your selections
October 10, 2017 at 16:02 #1320960Would it matter if the scoring was left until Monday DG. I’m having to leave my own compy final until then and wouldn’t mind totting up the scores, but someone from TH would have to copy them over as I’m not on that forum and also like Graham I run a mile at the mention of spreadsheets.

October 10, 2017 at 19:43 #1320977I’ll be away most of the Saturday but could put the scores up on here on Sunday morning.
October 11, 2017 at 07:03 #1321024Thanks everyone but one of the TH team,NewApproach, will score on the day, they will be registering here in the next couple of days.
October 11, 2017 at 10:50 #1321037Thanks for that DG, and could you pass my personal thanks to NewApproach, he’s kept
MrsG happy as it frees us up to be out and about, as previously planned, on the day.
I’ll still be keeping a close eye to see how we are doing and posting the occasional
cheer (or groan).PS. You could tell NewApproach he would be joining at a nice time, he could have a look
at Venture to Cognac’s TRF Ten To Follow competition which kicks off on 4th November, it’s
a cracker
October 11, 2017 at 11:11 #1321044Great news DG and many thanks for all your efforts and to New Approach for helping us out on here, really appreciated.
New Approach was my sparring partner in last years contest and he didn’t make life easy for me, a very knowledgeable player a credit to Talking Horses.
Many thanks to Graham (BigG), yeats and all the others for their offers of help and all that is left to say is lets’s get focused and sort out the winners for Champions Day.

Entries can be made on either the Talking Horses Forum or The Racing Forum regardless of which team the player represents. Each team will consist of 16 players including one captain.
A draw is made on the Monday prior to the meeting whereby players are paired together and compete with each other by nominating one selection in each of the six races at Ascot’s Champions Day meeting with one selection noted as a nap. The first player to be drawn out on each side will be the captain for this year’s contest.
A virtual £2 win bet will be placed on the nap with a virtual £1 win bet on your other selections. In the event a nap is not nominated, all selections will be settled on a £1 win basis. Stake money will not be included in any returns but losing selections result in losing the virtual stake. If your selection is a non runner, the virtual stake is placed on the favourite for that race, however joint or co favourites will be settled accordingly. For the purpose of this competition any Rule 4 deductions will be ignored. Selections (one reserve for each race allowed) must be in by 1.15PM and no submissions or alterations are permitted thereafter. In each match the winning player scores 3 points, a tie will be scored as 1 point each and the winning forum will be the one who scores most points. If the result is a tie the accumulated profit (or loss) of all the players in their respective team will be the deciding factor.
If a team member fails to post selections, the captain’s selections are used again on behalf of that player. If the captain fails to post selections on the day, the captain’s and all absent players score will be calculated as a losing selection on each race including one nap.
Any disputes (the decision of Nathan and Diamond Geezer is final.
Cormack15 has kindly offered a copy of the book “Queen’s Of The Turf” for the highest scoring individual.
October 16, 2017 at 23:12 #1321932Thanks DG – tell New Approach to mail me david@theracingforum.co.uk if any issues registering.
Looking forward to the big battle once again!
October 17, 2017 at 15:05 #1322003Just testing that I’ve managed to register OK.
October 17, 2017 at 18:05 #1322011Hi just thought I should introduce myself as I’ll be doing the scores on Saturday. I will be around all afternoon so should be able to keep you all updated fairly regularly.
Just to clear up any confusion – I am a girl! When I signed up to TH I didn’t think my user name through properly and chose New Approach as he is one of my favourite horses (at least I didn’t pick Exotic Dancer though – another of my faves!)
October 17, 2017 at 19:18 #1322029Welcome to the forum New Approach and big thank you for stepping up to do the scoring…
I’ll be running a breeders cup competition at the start of November and there’s plenty of other good competitions on the forum if you want to join in you are more than welcome….
